Opinion: Is a Chiropractor

...considered to be or called a doctor? Why or why not?

My mom, an RN for 35 years says no. But, I have a friend whose DH is one and she says he is a doctor whenever anyone asks what her DH does for a living.

I don't really care either way, just curious for your opinions.

Re: Opinion: Is a Chiropractor

  • Phd= doctor no matter what they do for a living.

This.  I remember in college, some professors that had their Phd...wanted to be called Doctor so and so and not Professor so and so.  They were very particular about that and proud of that title.  Others, didn't care as much.  But anyone who has a Phd is considered a Doctor.

    This

  • I decided to do some looking online, and most chiropractor's are DC's "Doctors of Chiropractic" didn't see anything refering to them as PhD's though.

Anyway, I will have to tell my mom. Stick out tongue

  • Yes, they are Doctors.  They aren't MDs but neither are optometrists, dentists or podiatrists and I would never say those professions aren't doctors.
