What color paint for girls room with this bedding?

I just ordered my twin girls this bedding from Pottery Barn. One is pink and one is blue (Sorry I don't know how to do PIP) - http://www.potterybarnkids.com/room/rom/romgir/romgirsavenv/

The room has cream colored carpet with white crown molding and baseboards. Beds and dresser are white. It's a average size room with a lot of sunlight.

I love the color blue in the pic, but we already have several blue rooms in the house. Does that even matter? They are different shades of blue, but I think another blue room is kind of boring. Maybe that just doesn't matter as long as each individual room is pleasing? Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations?

Re: What color paint for girls room with this bedding?

  • I would paint  light green or gray/green to tie it all together, since both sets of bedding have green in them. That's just me though! GL!

  • How about a sunny yellow? If you do the blue, I would maybe do horizontal stripes, it will break it up a bit and not be so matchy-matchy.
  • I am running into the "too much blue" issue as well. It's my favorite decorating color so it's hard not to, especially since there are so many shades. It really doesn't matter, if that is what you want then that's all that really matters. If you want to do something other than blue then I would personally go with a color that is already in the comforter such as green or a deeper pink like the pink in the tips of the rose petals. If you want to add extra "wow" factor to it, maybe consider painting your baseboards and trim? Green walls with pink trim? Just a thought... it might be too much. Yellow does go with almost anything as well.
  • Another vote for green here... a sage green.  Have fun! :)

  • Looks like there's a third choice for the duvet color in that pattern...maybe go with the shade of green used for the background on that one (and leave the trim white).
  • Thanks, ladies. Green probably would be best. Is it selfish that I really want it pink? Would that look terrible if I added blue curtains and accessories?

Off to look at paint samples today and hopefully something jumps out at me. Thanks for the suggestions!

  • I would actually lean towards a creamy yellow. I wouldn't paint the room blue if one of the sets is pink and one is blue....the blue will blend in and the pink will look out of place. A really light minty green would be nice too. I would stay away from anything to bright/dark since the bedding is quite busy.
  • Another vote for green.  I have some PBK blue bedding in my odd bedroom, and I used Behr's Spring Hill on the wall.  We get compliments all the time on it.  GL!
