I'm hosting my cousins lingerie shower Saturday and I'm finalizing my menu. I need opinions and help please.
Our Menu is looking like this:
Chicken Salad (the kind with grapes, nuts, etc in it..my mom has a really good recipe)
Croissants/rolls/and crackers for the said chicken salad
Either a salad/ or pasta salad (see below)
Chips and a dip mix that I got at a little specialty store
Little miniture pickles
Strawberry Pretzel Salad
Mini cheesecake bites
Iced brownies
A pink punch
Water with lemon
And then I am going to get a coke/mt dew/diet coke for those that don't won't the other two.
Okay a few questions:
1. Should I do cut up fruit?
2. Should I also make tuna salad or ham salad in case people don't like chicken salad?
3. I also thought about adding cherry tomatoes...should I?
4. Also thought about a homemade cheeseball as well? Again should I?
5. I really need a good recipe for either a pasta or green salad...which would you do and any suggestions and recipes.
This shower is at 4pm and I am wanting to be girly so what do ya'll think? Any suggestions/ideas will be appreciated! Oh and no alcohol, wouldn't go over with the crowd. Thanks!
Re: Calling all bama girls who love to cook, entertain, etc
Love you menu by the way!!!
First off I wouldn't make tuna or ham salad! I would just make the chicken salad and if people dont' like it there are plenty of other things they can eat!
Cut up fruit and homemade cheese balls always go over well at showers but that is totally your call!
Good luck with everything!
All of that sounds yummy. I think you have plenty of food so I wouldn't do the fruit or cheeseball unless you just want to. I think the chicken salad would be just fine- there is so much other food if people don't like chicken salad.
Goog luck with it all. I think it sounds like it will be a really nice party!!!!
I think that your menu looks great!! Instead of tuna or ham salad, what about pimento cheese?
I love a good fruit salad, but fruit can be so expensive, so that is totally your call.
I always just do my pasta salad out of the box and then add parm cheese, etc. to it..
A good green salad that I would consider "girly" is:
bag of spring mix
chopped granny smith apple
sliced strawberries
feta cheese
pecans or walnuts (l like to sprinkle cinnamon/sugar on them and then put them in the oven for just a min
Raspberry vingarette for dressing
I think just chicken salad is fine. I would only do fruit if you have health conscious people who won't touch the sweets.
I would go with pasta salad over green salad. I make a pasta salad from kraftfoods.com that is called Greek Isles Pasta Salad. It is really good.
You've got plenty of food. I would only do the cheese ball if you won't be pressed for time.
Everything sounds so good! I might suggest cubed cheese/crackers instead of having to make something else (like the tuna/ham salad or cheeseball)...if you are going to be pressed for time. If not and you want to make something else...I would opt for the cheeseball instead of tuna/ham salad.
I also think I would go for a pasta salad instead of green, you wouldn't have to worry with dressings and such.
Here it is!
Twist Pasta Salad
Tri-color Rotini, 1 box 1 tsp sugar 1/4 cup mayo 1/4 cup miracle whip (I just use 1/2 cup mayo instead) 1/2 red bell pepper, diced 8 oz bottle Italian dressing (I use Wishbone) 2 oz shredded cheddar 1 cucumber, peeled and diced 1/2 onion, diced Salt & pepper, to taste 1/3 cup ranch dressing 1/2 tsp Nature's Season Morton's seasoning blend Boil pasta as directed, drain. Stir in all ingredients.I think that menu looks great! Like pps said, I wouldn't worry about doing a chicken salad alternative. It sounds like you have plenty of food, but if you have time a cheeseball would be good (people always love those!)
As far as the fruit, it is totally up to you. It may be a little expensive since a lot of the typical "display/party" fruit is out of season. I think everything will be great!
