garage floor coated anyone?[:|]

Has anyone here gotten their garage floor coated?

I live in MN and it would be a great addition to our garage being that we use it for more than just a parking space in the winter. I'm leaning towards this one company that does garage floor coating in Minneapolis. It looks like they service my area of Bloomington for a good price, But I am wondering if anyone has done this before? Maybe there is something else I should be looking for before I jump into this project. Perhaps your own do's and don'ts. Any advice will be helpful. Thanks in advance!

  • I'm in MN too. DH and I considered doing it ourselves (via Home Depot or Lowe's) to our old house's garage but never got around to it.

I think the sealant with specks you toss on for color (if you choose) is at least $100 from those stores.

I like the look and it will prevent all that pitting and cracking somewhat from the snow and salt.

  • My husband coated the garage floor when we moved into our new house. If you buy the kits at Lowes/Home Depot, make sure to ask the person in the paint department how many to get. We had to get two for a two-car garage and it was just enough. It looks great! Hard work for him, but we're glad we did it.
  • We did the epoxy floor coating ourselves a few years ago. It was really easy and looked great! It's a pretty easy DIY project :)

  • Thanks everyone for the great advice. I think I will look into the DIY route. Wish me luck that it gets done before spring! Confused
