Would you like this gift?

Seen on pinterest.

Use your bridesmaid's dress to make a baby quilt and give it to the bride at her baby shower.

Is that a good gift or weird?  I mean assuming you had no intention to wear the bridesmaid dress again.

Re: Would you like this gift?

  • I would appreciate it.

  • It's thoughtful. Some people like stuff like that and others don't. I think it would be a nice gift.
  • I think it might be weird because what are the chances that the quilt is washable?  That just doesn't seem incredibly practical to me.

That's a good point.  The quilt I saw on pinterest was probably on 1/10 the bridesmaid dress, the rest was complimentary fabrics so it would probably be fine to wash it.

My first thought was it's a nice gift but then I worried the bride wouldn't want MY bridesmaid dress, like maybe she would rather me keep it?

  • I would like it. I think its super thoughtful and the fact that someone put the effort to make it would make it even more special.

This is the only reason why I would be ehhh...

I think the idea behind it is really cute and I would really like it for that reason. I would be nervous about washing it though. I guess it depends on the dress.

  • Personally, I would love it. I love homemade things like that. But I also wouldnt use it, use it, unless it could be washed. I would hang it on a wall, or over the back of the rocking chair in the baby's room. A lot of those fabrics if they were just squares can be washed on the delicate cycle and air dried.
  • I believe you're suppose to wash the fabic before you cut the squares so if they shrink it would be then.  And I'm one that would rather a kid enjoy a blanket i made then worry about messing it up.

This is a cute idea as long as the BM dress wasn't PINK and the baby is a boy haha.
