This board is sucking as bad as the knot for me. 
I've got today off and I'm going to the social security office to change my name! Yay!

make sure you have a state issued marriage license, and not a church license.
when i went to ss to change my name, I had the license we signed in the church. I didn't realize that it wasn't worth anything. I waited in line for an hour only to find out that I needed to walk over to city hall and get a copy of our state license.
it took me more than a year to get ss changed, about 1.75 to get license and credit cards changed
