Re: Have You Been the Victim of a Waxing Disaster?

  • I have been a victim of waxing distaster that was self inflected! I warmed up a hot wax in the container I bought in, I had used this jar for a few months so the container had been heated up a few times. There wasn't a lot of product left in the container, but it was enough for the purpose I needed it. I put in the microwave for one minute, when I took at container, like always I was oscilating the container to make sure it's heated up evenly, all of sudden I felt a sever pain/burn on my foot, the container was disintegrating and hot wax was pouring on top of my bare foot. I dropped the container in the sink and started removing the wax and putting some ointment on the burn, the burning sensation wasn't going away, my mom drove me to an afterhour urgent care, I had 3rd degree burn in two spots of my foot. From then on I make sure the container I am using to warm up the wax is microwave safe and always wear shoes when handling hot wax and heat up the wax in increments not all at once.
