Long Weekend/Getaway in March/April

Where would you go/what would you do for a short trip - 3-4 in March or April?

I'm not sure with or without kid. ...

We're going on a cruise in February and a beach week in July.  Looking at the calendar we have nothing going on in March or April and I was thinking about trying to do a short trip somewhere - budget somewhere under 2K.  I was thinking maybe Charleston?

  • Boston because I love it there or Nashville because I've never been.  Both are quick flights and both have plenty to do with or without a kid in

Oh wait...under 2K...not sure you could do that with Nashville.  But Boston you easily could.  Plus if you're driving it's not that bad of a ride.

  • I think Charleston or Savannah would be a great choice for that time of year and that budget and time frame. I also think both would be fine with or without kids. If you don't bring E, you can stay in a cute B&B and do more romantic dinners, ghost tours and historic houses. If you do bring E, there are trolley/carriage rides, dolphin tours and plantations and forts that might be fun for her.
  • Charleston or Savannah are great options, with or without kids.  I love both cities!

Boston, NYC, New Orleans, or Chicago are also good choices but you'll get more bang for your buck in the south.

If it ends up being an adult only trip, Berkley Springs WV or staying at a vineyard/B&B with wine tours in Southern VA are close options.

  • We often do 3 days in NYC for less than $1k, so with $2k, it would be awesome!

I might also think Chicago or Savannah, Ga.

  • We did lancaster PA. last march for 3 days and had so much fun!  We did the sight and sound theatre on night and loved it!  Plus it is not that far away under 2hrs...
