Book Club week 1

I finished Savor the Moment - Nora Robert's Bride Quartet series - Book in a series category. It was an audiobook. I read the first two, and I realized after listening to it that I totally didn't read one of the characters the way she was read in the audiobook. I hope that makes sense. She was more quirkie then I read in my head.  Cute story, kind of predictable though.

I'm currently listening to Xenocide - Orsen Scott Card (Ender's game book #3) - book written 20 or more years ago. Whoa this is a deep one! But I enjoy it.

Reading - Bitten - Kelley Armstong - Free Space.  I started reading this for NBC monthly discusion.  I don't usually chime in, but I like reading the posts lol.  It's taken half the book to really get into it.

I have Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover to read next for non-fiction

Question - the category "Read a new book by one of your favorite authors".  Does this mean a book you haven't read new, or their newest books?

Re: Book Club week 1

  • I'm listening to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - book in a series.

I'm reading Opening Moves by Steven James - read a new book by one of your favorite authors. It's new to me, but was written last year.

I want to use The Perks of Being a Wallflower as my book I've read before, and Downpour by Bella Leone as a book with a male main character. Beyond that, I'm not sure. There are several nonfiction books sitting on my GR shelf.

ETA: I'm going to read The Song of Achilles as my book recommended by a friend.

  • I'm totally slacking and let me tell you why.

I have Clash of Kings to read and I don't want to. so I haven't started that and I haven't started actually reading another book because I'm supposed to be reading a Clash of Kings. does anyone else do this.

I have a pile of books next to my bed to read though.

and I'm listening to Girl Gone and I have to figure out a way to finish it ASAP. I need to know how it ends!

Are you reading CoK or listening?  Sometimes I get like that if I'm not really into the book.   I do find GoT books hard to get into it until like 1/3 of the way in and then I can't stop.  His first couple chapters are usually new characters and I'm like WTF does this have to do with ANYTHING?!

i'm a much quicker reader than listener so I am going to read book 2.  listening to them takes forever!

I was going to ask this too.  Did I make up this category?  I'm thinking it's new-to-you

I got into a three month long reading funk because of this exact same thing but a different book.  I finally moved on and ending up picking up the book a few weeks ago and finally reading it.

  • I have been reading a ton!

    I finished:

Blue Noon-Book in a series.  It's a YA book and I only read it to finish the series out.  The author wrote another series that I loved but I wouldn't recommend this one.

Poison Princess-Book written in 2012.  Again, YA.  Really enjoyed this one but it's a little scary.

    Gone Girl-50 pointer

The Fault in our Stars-Goodreads winner.  One of my all time favorite books, the main character's narration is amazing!

    I'm reading:

Sisterhood Everlasting-not sure what category yet-It's a companion book to the sisterhood of the traveling pants series and I'm not sure if I'm remembering the SOTTP books wrong but this book is AWFUL.

I picked up a bunch of books at the library today and am going to start Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor for book someone recommended to you tonight.

  • I finished Gone Girl - 50 pointer

I think I'm going to start A Discovery of Witches next - book someone suggested to me

I cannot read more than 1 book at a time.  I am in awe of you girls.

No matter how much you want to give up after the first few chapters, don't do it. It started to get interesting about a quarter of the way in, but for those first few chapters I seriously questioned my sanity.

Xenocide was 1991.  Made me feel old because that does not feel 20 years ago!

  • I'm only on my first book because I wanted to finish my book that I had already started the end of 2012.  It's called Cold Kiss and is actually a pretty good, and very easy read.  Hope to finish it and make serious progress on my next book (yet to be determined) over the weekend.  I'm glad to get all the suggestions off of here!  When do you ladies listen to books?  I would love to do that, but don't know when I would.

Mainly when I'm driving.  Also when I'm working out and cleaning.  If I'm doing mundane things at work like data entry I will listen there too.

this is where my very short commute to work is not a plus!  I never thought of doing it while I worked out.  Ill have to try and find some books to download.  Thanks!

I listen when I'm alone in the car and when I run. I never thought it would be easier to listen to spoken words when I run, but it is. It makes the time go so much faster.
