dog friendly vacations

Hey, long time no see. Like, really long time. Mind if I pick your brains?

Thinking about summer vacation, which of course, I gotta take my pup with us. We are thinking beach. We typically go to the outerbanks and love it there, but why not try something else.... But where? One thing we love about the Outerbanks area beaches are that even though they tell you that you need to have your dog on a leash, no one seems to care as long as they are under verbal control. So, someplace like that would even be good.

Nice stopping in to say hello!

Re: dog friendly vacations

  • you can't just show up and use us when it suits you.  You really have to make more of a commitment to sending me good vibes and ample praise about my accomplishments.

(we have been to N. Litchfield Beach in SC twice, liked it a lot... someone else had a dog there on the beach. Not sure of the rules)

  • No suggestions, but saying hello!

  • We went to Broadkill Beach DE once and took our dog.  It was a really nice quiet beach.  We kept our dog leashed because he wouldn't come back if he wasn't but we saw other dogs that were off leash.  I'm not sure how hurricane Sandy has affected that area though.

Sorry, you're right.  She has turned on us.  I will give zero suggestions and zero vibes.

  • My in laws live near Charleston, SC and we've gone down there the last few years. They have 2 dogs so I've heard about the dog activities! There's Kiawah Beach that they take them a lot. We've gone with the dogs before and always see other dogs there. I think it has the least restrictive rules there. There are some places they have to be leashed but some they don't. I think Folley beach allows dogs too but only at certain times and leashed. There's also a nice dog park at one of the county parks that the in laws have gone to. They also have some trails there you can walk the dogs.

  • Thanks for the help! And nice to see you eggpitt, even if Amanda is trying to spread her hate.

Sending good vibes to all the nesties out there to rid you of AmandaJ.
