Photo book apps

Hi there! Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm looking for suggestions on where to create a photo book. We are having a professional wedding album designed by our photographer but I want to make a couple of smallish ones for grandparent gifts. I am certainly not expecting pro quality but I still want decent quality and best price. I'v been considering Snapfish, Costco or IPhoto.

Iphoto would be convenient, since I wouldnt have to upload the pics, which can be time consuming. Pricing is similar to Snapfish for books at least,

Snapfish has a living social deal for 60% off... But i think you can only use one coupon per account. They also seem to have a lot of creative options.

Costco is the  cheapest (not considering living social coupon for SF), and def more for your money ($25 for 30 pages compared to $29 for 20 pages), but it seems their site may not be as user friendly or have as many creative option and will be pretty basic.

Iv never used any of these services, and don't mind spending the extra couple bucks if its actually worth it.  Has anyone used any of these before? What is the paper quality?

Re: Photo book apps

  • I made a photo book from Shutterfly as a guest book for my wedding.  I was very happy with the quality.  My sister made a photo book using Snapfish once.  From what I remember, the quality was about the same as Shutterfly's.  I am going to use Snapfish to make a photo book with our wedding photos, but that's just because I found a good Groupon deal for it.  I also considered Shutterfly.

I don't know anything about the quality of Costco or Iphoto.

  • This is a little old,but still very relevant.  This guy ordered books from most of the popular places and then wrote reviews about them.

I did a quick wedding book with 'blurb' and that turned out alright. pretty standard. decent paper. fairly good print quality. nothing special though. I'm doing more now using Adoramapix.

  • I've seen one done through apple app and it turned out cute. My MIL did a nice once for us through Wal-Mart. I made my parents a wedding album through Walgreens. Super easy, yes it's basic, but key thing, easy & if you watch their site for discount codes you can save a lot of money. Good ones come up about every other week.

  • i just learned that with adoramapix... once you finish your book, you can 'share' it (via facebook, twitter, email, etc... or just copy a link).  This way when you're done with the book, you COULD send the link to family/friends for them to view it online.  it flips pages and everything on the screen. kind of a neat way to show everyone your photos =)
  • I've never tried any of the one's you mentioned.  I've always used http://www.blurb.com/ to make our photo books.  Good quality.  Their facebook page runs deals every now and then.
