Re: Confession Thursday

  • I love budgeting and making sure we are living within our means.  But this past year has been hard.  H was gone for 3 months, got out of the army, got his CDLs, and has been trying to figure out what he want to do as a civilian.  I knew this was a HUGE transition, but wow.  Our e-fund is way below where I like it and since H really didn't work much, we won't be getting as much back from taxes even though we've been paying as single all year.  This new job has potential to get us back on our feet, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.  We kind of have a way of things not working out as planned... everytime.  And the months we struggle I really resent the big chunk of money that goes to his child support, especially when it equals, or exceeds what he made that month.  Please don't flame me

  • I confess that I HATE medical appointments, and I'm wigging out over the 2 I have next week. One of them is just a dental cleaning, but I know they're going to get on my case about not having had my wisdom teeth out yet, and I hate that. $1100 out of my pocket while I'm trying to pay for a wedding? No way! Fortunately I have better dental coverage now than I did before the wedding, so it will be a lot cheaper, but I still need to postpone it again because...the reason for my other doctor appointment...I need to have my gallbladder out! WTF, how do I go from having no medical problems my whole life to needing two surgeries in a year? I know they're both pretty minor procedures, but I've never had surgery or been under anesthetic before and I'm scared. :(

  • @Pocky...I have serious white coat phobia too! I haven't had blood drawn (or have needed to **knock on wood**) since I was in like 5th grade because I'm ridiculously afraid of needles!

My confession is that I'm approaching 3 months since the wedding, and my thank you notes still aren't done : ( I really feel terrible about this! DH and I are doing the best we can and I think most people know how busy we are, but my mother feels the need to tell me how tacky I am on a daily basis : / I'm usually the etiquette police and did everything by the book as far as etiquette goes for the wedding, but trying to finish up a Ph.D. and DH's busy job has just taken over since the wedding. I promise they'll be out very soon though!

EDIT: I should mention that we have about 130 thank you's to write!

  • I confess that a big reason that I didn't post on the Weghtloss Wednesday thread was because I have been awful about my goals.  I have done nothing to really each better except bring my lunch to work.  I mean last night we had ceasar salad for dinner but we also had a side of pasta salad and then cheesecake for dessert.  I really need to go back to the gym and start cutting things out of my diet.

  • @mpjf, technically (according to Emily Post) you have 3 months. Since I don't see them getting done in the next two days, I guess I failed at etiquette on this one : /

  • I also haven't finished mine and don't worry... my MIL takes every chance she has to tell me how bad it is. I just had so much to deal with that I put off to plan the wedding (mostly medical related) and got swamped with doctors appointment and just life!  You gave me a little inspiration with the 3 month rule. I will aim to finish them (same amount as you) before that 3 month mark is up. I still have a few weeks.  Just set yourself a goal for the end of the month.  I think I also find it hard to finish them because then it means everything is really over.

I'm definitely stuck in a post-wedding rut right now, which I feel bad about. My sister got engaged the same weekend as our wedding, so now I'm helping her plan. I"m so excited for her, but I needed a little time to enjoy being married before jumping back in. With helping her with all the details, it really makes me second guess our wedding, which don't get me wrong, was beautiful! So writing those thank you notes just gives me something to hold on to.

  • I confess that I'm so fed up with all the drama that H's sister and BIL are causing in the family. They have chosen to side with H's dad over the divorce issue (mostly because he's buying them off, but whatever) and they're just pretending to be on MIL's side to get info that they can run back to her husband with. It's ridiculous how much damage they're causing and how many people they're hurting, and they just don't seem to give a f*ck. I just want to cut the 3 of them out of my life and move on at this point. Too bad that's not an option.
