Planting in winter

Is there anything you can plant in a flower box in the winter (cold climate)?  We are getting our house ready to sell and want to make the empty window box look nicer.  Thanks!

Re: Planting in winter

  • Don't laugh, but the only thing I can think of that will stay green are fake plants.  I have seen people use cut evergreens during the holiday season but I don't know how long they last. Live evergreens are not cheap and I bet the cold temps and the freeze thaw cycles would kill their root systems and thus the plant.
