My Kitty - blood in loose stools

I'm hoping there's nothing too serious wrong with her.  I take her to the vet this afternoon at 5:15 to find out.

Backstory:  For the past week, she's been having extremely loose stools, and not making it to the litter box for her stools.  She does pee in litter box (so I'm thankful for that!).  Last week she didn't seem like her normal self.  She would "hide" in the corners...basically lay in random corners of the house, so she wasn't exactly hiding.  She also seemed a little more willing to cuddle.  She would lay in my arms while I would be in the bed with a blanket covering her and stay put for awhile.  Normally she would get away from me if I tried to cuddle with her too much haha.  She's a very friendly cat, so I like snuggling her.

I was going to call the vet yesterday if I noticed more loose stools yesterday morning.  All day Sunday (minus when we woke up) and when we woke up yesterday, I didn't see any loose stools, so I thought she was getting better.  This morning, I woke up to more loose stools, and this time it had blood in it.  :-(  I'm hoping nothing too serious is wrong with her!

We moved 2 months ago, so I don't think it's the stress of the new home since it just started happening.  She had worms and I took her to the vet in November before we moved.  I'm wondering if they didn't all go away??

What could be the causes of blood in her loose stools and her having loose stools for about a week now?  I feel bad now because I was looking online some and I was reading if a cat had loose stools for over 24 hours, you should call the vet.  Yet, it's been about a week now, and I just called the vet this morning :-(

Re: My Kitty - blood in loose stools

  • No use in feeling guilty she will see a vet today you can't change the past. How old is the cat? is she entirely indoor? Sometimes blood can been seen in the stool due to the straining from diarrhea.

  • with the history of worms and her age it very well could still be an issue. I would take in a sample of her stool if you can. The fresher the better.
