What does everyone think about this hair...

So...no mockery of my ri-donk-ulous face in the picture but...I would like some advice and opinions about a possible hair cut before I decide to take the plunge.

DH doesn't want me to ever do anything EVER with my hair so I can't ask him. (Like I'm supposed to just keep growing and growing my hair...but it is thin and sad after pregnancy and a botched hair dying event so I kind of think cutting it would be beneficial looks and hair health wise. And long hair generally makes my face look more pudgy.)

Anyway. Here is a picture of me so you know where I coming from..

Here are pictures of the hair cut I would like.

Bad idea? Good idea? Alternative suggestions? Right now my hair is pretty heavily layered and just past my shoulders.

Re: What does everyone think about this hair...

  • I think your beautiful, but just can't picture this hairstyle on you..

  • I say GO for it! I had crazy long hair for years and years and chopping it off into a pixie cut is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I feel more "myself" than I ever have. Short hair isn't for everyone, but I was very reluctant and not sure it would work on me and I am so glad I just went for it.

You may want to start with something a little more traditional like a pixie or an a-line bob and then grow it/shape it into something more edgy after a month or so of getting used to styling it and such. That's sort of what I did, and I think it made for an easier transition.

You're very pretty and I think you'd rock it.

  • Talk to your hair stylist to see if it would work with your hair type and lifestyle.  An alternative is to try on a wig to see if you like it before committing.

  • I love that hairstyle, it's what I have. It takes me less then 5 minutes to do in the morning, with a newborn, that could be very helpful. But like PP recommended. take photos into hair stylist and show her pics and ask her what she thinks based on your face shape  (I have a round full face) and hair type (I have thicker hair). A good hair stylist will be honest with you if it will work for you or not. But to be honest, I have no regrets. And you're right, if your hair is unhealthy and fried at the ends, cutting it will be good, getting the dead off will make it look healthier too. Keep us updated on what you end up deciding to do

(ps...the con of this hair cut is that my hair now grows faster and I'm at the hair salon every 4 weeks to maintain, and if you're planning on going short to just grow it out, this is not an easy hairstyle to grow out, it will take a very long time, I tried it for my wedding)

  • I actually have a very similar hair cut! i love it and I have gotten a lot f complements on it. Because there will be more face framing, it will be slimming. Your hair will also look more voluminous because it will not have the extra weight of length. Go for it! Looks awesome!
