germs

Hi, So my ds and I were mixing this friendship bread batter (the one where you pass out bags to other friends) and as I go to  get more ingredients he sneezes twice and the first time he didn't cover his mouth. He covered his mouth the second time. SO my question is, is it ok to eat this bread. He has a mild cold and I baked the bread but idk if I should just throw out the other bags with batter, I was suppose to hand them out to friends/family, but i don't want to get anyone sick.

Does bacteria die when the bread is cooked? Or will I be getting someone sick if  I pass them a bag.

Re: germs

  • I'd probably throw it out and start over.  Whether or not the germs die when it's baked wouldn't be the issue...it's the gross factor of him sneezing on the dough that I'd have the problem with.  I know kids get sick and can't help it but when DD is sick I don't let her around anything that I cook for someone else.

  • I might not have fully understood the post b/c I am not familiar with AFB but...it would be really disgusting NOT to throw it out.  Any germs, dead or alive, shouldn't be intentionally passed on for someone to ingest.

  • I threw them out. We ate the one that we made but then again it's our kid so it wasn't gross for us.

  • Germs cannot survive in heat above 140* F or below freezing. So since it was baked post sneeze no one can get sick assuming he did not touch cooked bread etc. it's up to you
