Updates...

Hi Ladies! We've all been pretty quiet on here and I miss the chatting! How's everyone been? Any new updates in your lives you want to share?

H and I just got a mini schnauzer puppy. He's so adorable!  He's my first dog ever so I'm enjoying going through all of the firsts with him.  Potty training has been interesting but I'm excited when he's housebroken and we don't have to worry about it anymore.

What has everyone else been up to?  I hope everyone is staying warm with all of these cold temps everywhere.

Re: Updates...

  • I agree that it has been really quite on this board recently!!! I miss all the chatting too :(

I actually have some very exciting (although bittersweet).  Last Monday I got offered a job with a CPA firm in the town where DH and I live.  So, this is my last week with my current job, which is really kind of sad because I love the people that I work with and it will be hard to say goodbye.  However, I am really looking forward to not having to drive an hour one way to work and to working in a career that will allow me to use my degree more than I currently do (now I have to buckle down and pass the CPA exam)!!! I am nervous, sad, and excited all at the same time.  Working the town we live in will be amazing!!!

KBabe--your puppy is so cute!! That is our next thing we want to get (after we paint the living room) and now that we will both be working in town a puppy might actually happen since we would be able to go home at two different times to let it out.  We'll see ;)

  • Congrats on your new position! I know you have been looking for some time so that's awesome that you finally found one that will be more suitable for you!

Thanks so much - he's a funny guy! haha We only got him last Friday so it's def been an adjustment but I love him already. :-)  It is a huge time commitment and so much more doable with you be closer.  What kind of dog would you want? We had no idea but when found him and I just knew he was ours.

  • I have been MIA for many months now so hopefully some of you remember me!

School started in September (I'm a teacher) and it's a really challenging group this year so I kind of fell off the face of the Earth except for school stuff.

H & I bought a house in December which we were really excited about.  Unfortunately, we have had some very costly and very unexpected repairs to make on the house.  The basement flooded with 3+ inches of water 2 weeks after we bought it but now we have a sump pump so that won't happen again.  We also found out the roof had been leaking into a corner of the addition (addition was added about 40 years ago) and caused nearly $6,000 worth of damage to the wall in that area.  3 full days of construction later and our house is put back together.  While it has been a very trying few weeks, things are starting to look up.  As corny as it sounds, as H and I were pumping water from the basement until 2am, we looked at each other and said, "At least we're in this together."

Hope things are going well with everyone else!

Aww I love how you made the best of it by saying at least your going through it together! I'm so sorry about all of your house issues. But it does make it more bareable when you have each other's support. Hopefully everything goes well now!

We aren't really sure what kind of a dog we want...DH wants a larger dog (ideally a golden retriever) but I want a smaller/medium sized dog so we'll see.  We have been looking at a couple different websites to see what is available to adopt, because we both think it would be nice to give a dog that needs a home one!! Either way it will be a puppy or young dog.  I think once we see some we'll find the one that is meant for us...or at least that is what I hope for!!

  • I have been MIA as well! I have been crazy busy. The week before Christmas, I was notified that as of 2/16, I will no longer have a position due to them closing my department, so I have been job hunting. And then the day after Christmas, I got a BFP! We had our first appointment last Wed and everything looks good! I hope everyone else is doing well :)

We weren't very sure what we wanted either. H wanted a smaller one and I didn't really have a big preference. But when we saw this little guy I just knew.  Maybe it'll workout for you that way, too. You'll just know when you meet the little guy or girl.

Thanks! While its bad timing, we knew it would happen sooner or later. I am just thankful it happened now and not 7 months from now.

  • Well, I have started back with the semester. I have one more left after this one, woohoo! I am considering getting an online graduate certificate after I graduate in December.

I have already decided what I am going to get my hubby for our one year anniversary!!

I have put down a deposit for a boudoir session. I will get my hair and make up professionally done and have four different outfits w/ a hr and a half shoot. I am excited! He will get a 5x7 "little black book" photo album with ten photos of my choice.

Have any of you ladies decided what you will be doing for your one year anniversary?

  • Sorry I have been MIA the past few weeks.  I have been slightly overwhelmed adapting to the new job, but I am loving everything about it!! I do miss my old co-workers, but thankfully we have kept in touch and I know that we all formed a friendship that will last for years to come.  Other than being busy transitioning into a new schedule and work tasks, DH and I have been busy painting our living room. We have wanted to add some color to the house for a while now (literally every wall is white or off-white).  We finally have all the walls painted and now it's just a matter of a few touch ups and putting everything back.  Once everything is organized again I'll post some pictures.

We haven't decided what we're going to do for our one year. Neither of us really have any vacation so I don't think a trip is going to happen. What did you end up doing?

Also, could you let me know how your boudoir session goes? I have been thinking about doing that for some time now and haven't made the leap.

I'm excited to see pictures! Do you have before pictures, too? It seems like every weekend you're busy doing something on your house. I wish I had your motivation right now!

  • Life is pretty good--I'm enjoying swimming, coaching, book club, and my grad level sport psych class. H is still just working part-time and taking a couple of classes while looking for a full-time accounting job.

The other parts of being a grad student are getting me down, though. I haven't been getting any research work, but as a TA, I have a hundred assignments to mark. I'm also freaking out about my thesis proposal, which is going nowhere.
