need to invest in a classic purse
I always am always buying new black purses, but then they seem to go out of style. I like a large, over shoulder style. What type can I get that will be something that I can keep without going out of style? Any suggestions? Preferrably close to or under $100.
TIA
Re: need to invest in a classic purse
Maybe try Etsy for something Vintage? Vintage is always chic
Keep it simple!
I have a Marc Jacobs black leather hobo style bag, and it's the best purse that I have ever purchased. I've had it for almost 3 years now, and the leather is soft, but durable. Mine is quite large and I throw anything and everything in it. Here is a link to the next one that I want to buy! This is a little above your budget, but it's an investment and totally worth it. Also, maybe check ebay for people selling their pre-owned ones. Mine is still in great condition, and they come with a dust bag, so when you're not using it, it's not getting messed up in your closet!

This is a bit out of your budget. But i just bought this purse. I think it has a classic shape and style (my mom has a bag from 20 years ago with the same shape) I invested in this piece, knowing I will probably have it for at least 10 years.
I bought a Gucci bag back in 2005 when I was in italy (they are a lot less expensive there..and i was at the outlet). It's a classic shape and material so it will never go out of style. I still use it. And intend to pass it on to my daughter (if i ever have one)... a great bag with a nice shape and leather body will last a "lifetime" if it is taken care of, cleaned, always in its dustbag when not in use etc.
Sometimes you have to spend a bit more but you won't have to buy a bag again for many many years to come.
Here is the bag I recently purchased:
I bought the blacka nd brown so I could wear it with all colors... but they also have a total black
