Post your superbowl dishes here

For those hosting and for those attending parties, what are some of the dishes you plan to make for the Super Bowl? Recipes welcome!

Re: Post your superbowl dishes here

  • The friends who are hosting are thinking about a Mardi Gras theme. She has mentioned making red beans & rice, fried oyster po' boys, and beignets. I was thinking of making jumbalya and bananas foster pudding, plus bringing something more pedestrian for DD, who won't eat any of the above except the desserts.

  • Dani...if you have a recipe for jambalaya I could use the help
  • DH wants to make jambalaya because of the New Orleans theme, but he's in charge of finding a recipe so we will see if it happens. I definitely want to have awesome food, since we will be at home by ourselves.

  • My friend who is from New Orleans actually told me before that she uses Zatarain's box jambalaya unless she is really in the mood to make it homemade. That the box stuff is similar in taste to what her moms homemade taste like.

I found a recipe for King Cake online I'm planning to try.  I was just going to mail order one but for $50 I decided to try to make one myself.

    I have a recipe from Annie's Eats bookmarked. She's my go-to.

  • This "light" jalapeno popper dip is reallllly good: http://www.ringfingertanline.com/2013/01/15/lightened-jalapeno-popper-dip/

I also plan on making layered nachos, wings and jambalaya sounds like a great idea to have for an official dinner that night.

Oh, and Dani, the mention of bananas foster pudding made me drool. Do you have a recipe??

  • DH and I joked about making "totchos" but it might actually be happening (sans the egg)

Sorry, I don't! I was just going to wing it! Honestly, I've never had bananas foster, but it seems to basically be bananas in a caramel sauce, so I was just going to use my go to banana pudding recipe and add some caramel into the mix.

Bailey- I've made this before for Maryland games! It's good, just make sure you use Jiffy or other peanut butters like that. The first time I made it, I made it with my Whole Foods peanut butter and it was runny. Still good, just runny.  I also used nilla wafers and graham crackers.
