Hi everyone,
I usually hang out on the special needs forum, and I also already deleted everything I typed once on accident, so grrr at that!
Long story short, we have lived here for a year, just started to do some fixer upper things. Small house 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 864 sq ft. We just painted the living room, kitchen & hallway. Have been wanting to do a backsplash and found the tiles on major major clearance this past weekend, so bought them! I also want to do a rustoluem counter & cabinet transformation after we get our tax refund.
The issue is that my husband says the backsplash should end where it is at now, I disagree and think it should go under the microwave, countertop height behind the stove. I could be persuaded but I think it looks odd like this, he think it will look odd like that.
Advice/Opinions, please & thank you!
ETA:ignore the dirty dishes i'm going to do them now :-P

Re: Kitchen Backsplash Question
Agree. If it's not behind the stove especially, what's the point?
decorative I guess. My husband works 70 hours a week and is never home for dinner so I rarely use the stove anyway. Very very rarely.
I did think it should go behind there though, he didn't. He wanted to do something with stainless steel behind it but I thought that wouldn't really match.
I agree with your opinion, but for a different reason: someday you may get a new stove, or sell your home. The new owner's stove (or yours) may have a lower back (with the knobs) on it, and it would look pretty dumb to have that area blank.
I've moved a few times in my adult life and always think of things that way.......what if I get something different, or want to sell?
A backsplash behind the stove is a great idea. I don't have one yet, and can't wait to put one in (renos are forthcoming).
They make it easier to clean up splatters from cooking (think of how much easier it is to wipe bacon grease off tiles than painted wall)
