follow up to resume

Last week I sent our a few resumes to a company. I also messaged the CEO on Linkedin (he is very invovled in the company and my parents met him at a party and he told them to have me contact him if I was interested in a job at the company)...

Now I am wondering should I call to followup on my resume next week?

Also, I applied for a job that I am VERY qualified for...but it's in another state. I haven't heard back from the company, but I applied there before and was told I wasn't a fit for the position at hand (It involved some media marketing, which is a bit of a stretch for my experience)....

When I applied for the job It didn't let me upload a coverletter or even type anything in a box that was saying "I am willing to relocate for this job" or even expand on my resume in a CV.... This is a large comapny and I can't find any information for an HR contact online. I found the name of one of the creative recruiters on Linkedin and through an old coworker that works there now, but can't find his email. I tried sending an email to him at different variations, First intitallastname@company.com or first name last initial @ company.com or first name last name. But they were all returned to me. Without upgrading to the next level of linkedin I can't access his information..... any idea how to get his email?

I don't want to email my old coworker again and ask because I feel like he has already sent me tons of invalueable information, and we didn't actually work together that much at my old job, so I feel like a nusance!
