What did you do for your DH's b-day?
Hi all!
So, my DH's big 3-0 is coming up and I want to do something really special and memorable for him. Ideally, I'd like to do something with just our immediate family: our parents, his siblings, and their spouses (not a party).
Ideas so far: rent a cabin on a lake, go whitewater rafting and camp. He likes to be active and is outdoorsy. Likes to hike. His b-day is in the summer.
What did you do for your DH's big day? Any ideas?
TIA!
Re: What did you do for your DH's b-day?
My Dh isn't 30 yet but our friend turned 30 this past fall and his wife arranged a surprise party at his favorite restaurant with all his friends there.
I would probably arrange to have a weekend away just us and then do a dinner with our families separately. My Dh isn't big on parties.

I like your ideas. Last year took DH for 1 hr horseback riding, we had never been and it's something he always mentioned. I'm not into animals so he was shocked when I drove us to the ranch where trail would start, it was the longest hour of my life since I'm not comfortable with horses. He was thrilled. Afterward we went to lunch and then couples massage and I gave him presents at night. This year, I'm already searching online, maybe we'll do jet skiing or boat ride, depending on weather, his bday is in March.
I also threw a surprise party for H's 30th.
For his 31st, I paid for us to get scuba certified, which is something he had wanted for a long time.
Does HE want something really special and memorable?
I just got roped into planning a surprise party for somebody who I'm pretty sure would really be happier with something low key with a small group of friends.
DH's 30th birthday was this month so I planned a suprize dinner for him at a nearby Restaurant with all our family and relatives on a Saturday. I didn't tell him where we going just to get dressed and get in the car. Since January is so cold we didn't do anything plus we both had cold/flu's on his actual birthday.
I did steal the idea from him though as my 30th birthday was back in September, but we also went kayaking and ate a yummy seafood lunch by the shore during the day and had the family dinner at night at the restaurant.
My husband is a music nut it is his biggest passion he has been playing guitar for 8 years and he is the worship leader for our church. So for his last birthday 23 I took him to see one of his favorite bands the Foo Fighters. He loved it and we had a blast! Plus it was in Chicago so we got a weekend up there. Next year I am thinking of taking him to a Bulls game LOL. =]
Maybe taking him to see one of his favorite artists if they are going to be around you. Plus it can turn into a fun weekend away.

My DH turns 30 this year and I haven't come up with something yet but I have to do one up from last year. I threw a suprise "party" for him. He's a huge Seahawks fan and there was a game on the morning after his birthday. I invited a bunch of his friends to come to our house to watch the game, I made breakfast and mimosas for everyone. He loved it.
Ummm... I think we went out to dinner?
This is bad. I have no idea what we did. I don't even remember what I did on my 30th...
My H's 30th is this year as well. One of his best friends 40th birthday is the day after H's b-day, so his wife and I have been thinking of organizing a Vegas trip. However, she is pregnant and is due about a month and a half before his b-day (so their baby will be only weeks old) and H and I are planning a trip to Italy, which looks like will be only weeks before his bday, so we might have to scrap that idea.
We'll probably end up just planning a big joint bday party in town and get a hotel or something.
I surprised my guy with taking him to a monster truck rally!
Then on the actual day, I decorated the house so much you could barely walk around. My husband has to get up early for work, and I did it the night before when he was sleeping. So he was so surprised and touched!
Then I made him a lego shaped cake (because hubby is a kid at heart) and threw him a really special dinner (with just me and him) with homemade tortillas chips and tostados.
Everything was a bit hit!
