Jiggly belly

Hi everyone, I need some help. I have a pretty flat stomach, however, it has a layer of jiggly fat on top. I work out 5-6 days a week either running, doing Insanity, weight lifting etc... But I can never get rid of the fat. My eating is not the greatest, I have a big sweet tooth and I know my eating has a lot to do w not being able to get rid of the fat. So what I need help with is what kind of foods to eat to get rid of this belly fat. I've never really felt comfortable in a bikini bc of my belly and I would really like to be able to wear one one day. Can anyone help me with food ideas, or recipes,or even websites with food suggestions? Is it possible to get a nice stomach when genetics are against you?

Re: Jiggly belly

  • Abs are completely made in the kitchen. I didn't believe it until I saw it for myself. I was at the gym 3-4 hours a day, 6 days a week. Busting my butt with lifting and high intensity cardio, as well as lots of yoga. I slimmed down, but the muscle just didn't want to show through. It wasn't until I cut out the refined crap that the abs definition started showing. Refined, processed grains/sugars have a tendency to sit right in the tummy area for multiple reasons.

If you have a sweet tooth, it's time to swap out the refined sugar for raw sugar, and candy for dark chocolate.

Get rid of the white and "wheat" breads as well. Opt for whole grain, sprouted grain breads. Silver hills is a fantastic bread brand, as an example.

Genetics do play a huge factor, as you know. I'm 5'8 and 135lbs. I can't get much smaller. I'm just not built slender enough to. But I am at 16% body fat and in the best shape of my life. When I was at 16% body fat and eating the refined stuff, I didn't have abs. When I knocked it off, it was like magic. Give it time, make the changes slowly. Think of what your abs could be in a couple months with those hard changes, and think of the long term health you will have by doing so. It's a win-win

  • I have a serious sweet tooth too, girl.  You get used to eating less sweets after a while (it's hard at first), but just try replacing them with fruit (which is noooot the same I already know), dark chocolate, yogurt, granola bars, and sooo many smoothies.  The smoothies are what really helped me.

Also I have a pooch too and a lot of guys find it really sexy.  There is not just one ultimate body type that all guys love.  Different people are attracted to different things.

I feel that way too in a bikini, especially if there some super model looking girl near me at the beach.  But what I have found out from my old roommate is that if you just pretend like you're the sexiest b**** on that beach (and just keep telling yourself that)  people will actually think that about you too because confidence is very sexy.

Usually a super sweet tooth is a result of eating a lot of things that are high on the glycaemic index over and over again (ie, sweets). Your body gets used to it, so your insulin levels rise and fall rapidly with sugar, making you crave sugar a lot more and a lot easier. You could also be much more sensitive to sugar which would cause this as well (genetics).  Weening yourself away from the sugar will help, OP. It sucks at first, but that's because your body wants the spike. Don't give into it.. instead, find things that will mellow out your insulin like chia seeds. That will naturally curb your sweet tooth.

Also,  I'm sorry but.. This is a health and fitness board, and if your only reason to be healthy and fit is for the attention of men.. I'm concerned.

My husband actually found me more attractive when I had a squishier butt and bigger boobs (ie, when I weighed about 15 pounds heavier than I do now) . But that's not his decision. My body image is something for ME, and my health is something for ME. I'm not saying, "don't have a pooch," but I am saying that it seems silly to tell OP that some guys like it as her motivation to keep it. Some guys also like stick thin women. Some guys also like overweight women. Does that mean I should diet myself to death, or gain an unhealthy amount of weight? Now.

I will agree that self confidence is important and something we should all be working on; but if that is to have the goal of defined abdominal muscles then that is the goal. Faking confidence never made me ultimately feel confident, but meeting my fitness goals did.
