Experience with tape-in extensions?

Hey ladies,

I have posted over on TB a ton, but not much over here.  I had a question, and wanted to see if any of you girls had experience with tape-in extensions?

I currently have great lengths, and they are great, but the upkeep is crazy expensive.  I have been researching less expensive methods, and found tape-in extensions.  Has anyone had them?  Will they totally damage my hair?  Do you put them in yourself, or do you have a professional do it?  I want to hear what you thought about them.

Thanks for any info you can share!

Re: Experience with tape-in extensions?

  • I don't have these, but I just wanted to mention an alternative. I have clip in extensions that I wear for special occasions but some friends have them and wear them whenever they go out on the weekends. They are made of real hair and our hairdresser just sews clips in them. I like them because I don't have to wear them all the time.
  • Thanks.  I have used the clip-ins, and I agree, they are great.  I have been considering going back to those too.  I just like something a little more permanent, since I like to wear them everyday.
  • I don;t have experience with these kind of extensions but you would absolutely need a professional. The only kind you wouldn't need a professional for would be clip ins. Another alternative that is a little pricey but it doesn't need as much upkeep are the keratin tipped extensions, supposedly they grow out with your hair a little. I would look into those a little.
