I can't believe Snowflake, now officially Elizabeth Claire, is already 12 days old!
The short birth story is that I never went into labor and we had a very quick surprise c/s.
The longer version...
When I was at my OB on my due date, I had not dilated at all, and the u/s showed that there was plenty of fluid, Snowflake was comfortable, happy, and healthy, and we decided there was no point in trying to rush her. We figured she would make an appearance on her own in the next couple of days or so.
I went back to my OB a week later and we did the NST. She had a deceleration while we were on the monitor and I still had not dilated at all. My dr. said she looked ok but not great, and sent me straight to the hospital for more monitoring. The plan was to keep an eye on her, but the dr. basically said she was ready to come out and it was no longer productive to wait for her to make a move on her own. There was now a good chance we'd be having a c/s that evening. We drove to the hospital, and once I was admitted and hooked up to the monitor, DH went home to pick up our hospital bags. After about 1.5 hours on the monitor the nurse came and told us the doctor had been watching the monitor from his office and confirmed that he wasn't thrilled with how she was doing - nothing was an emergency but he still thought she was going to have to come out that night. The doctor came in about an hour later and said that the monitors were showing that she was under a little bit of stress, and that induction probably would not work - I had not dilated at all, and it would probably lead to a long, unproductive labor that would only put more stress on the baby and likely end in a c/s anyways. So we agreed that a c/s as soon as possible was the way to go. The nursing shift was due to change in about an hour, so DH ran home to get the cord blood collection kit and to a few other last minute things that we hadn't had a chance to get into the hospital bag. They started to prep me for the surgery, and by the time he got back we were about ready to go. The surgery itself was totally surreal. All I remember was our dr holding her up and telling us she was a girl, and then DH going back and forth between us watching her and telling me what was going on. They brought her to me in recovery and we were able to start nursing right away there, and we kept her in the room with us all night. It was 6 hours from the time we walked into the doctor's office to the time she was born. We had not planned on having a c/s but we have no regrets. The dr. told us she never moved down into the birth canal and had the cord wrapped around her ankle. Our beautiful baby girl arrived safely and healthy, and that's all that really matters. I had a harder time adjusting to the reality that I'd had surgery and the quickness of her arrival. We were in the hospital for 4 days, and everything went pretty smoothly. The only issue I had was with one nurse who told us she was losing too much weight and might not be able to go home with us,. That totally freaked me out, and although we have been pretty successful at BFing (this baby has a seriously strong sucking reflex), we did let them give her an extra bottle of formula for one feeding because once the hormones and PPD kicked in, the added stress of possibly leaving her in the hospital was just too much. Also a note about the PPD - we think the symptoms actually started before she was born - it's much better now, but I can't say how important it was to know to be aware for it and to acknowledge it right away. I didn't need medication but I definitely needed a mental health plan when I go discharged (thank goodness my therapist was willing to see me at home).
About her name... Elizabeth Claire is named in honor of 2 of her great-grandmothers (Evelyn & Clara) and a cousin (Elizabeth) who passed several years ago. She has a Hebrew name too, which is the same as the 2 great-grandmothers.
Limited time PIPs... and they're gone.

Congrats! She is beautiful and I LOVE her name.
Your birth story sounds similar to mine, although I did start my induction. C's decels even after the dr had stopped my cervadil and pitocin prompted my c/s.
Looking back, I probably had PPD, but didn't realize it. Glad you knew what to look for.
