I'm really looking for dinner suggestions! (Yoo hooo Meghan.... I believe you make a lobster meal of some sort?? Would you be willing to share?)
Since I'll be home during the day this year, I was thinking it would be nice to make a special meal for the hubby. Anything involving steak/filet and/or lobster would be ideal (since we don't normally make those a part of our everyday rotation). I prefer not to have to use the grill either, since it's probably frozen to the deck!

Re: Valentine's Day plans?
We're celebrating a bit early this year and going to the Melting Pot Saturday night (yay for auntie babysitting!). Usually we're cheesy and we just get White Castle frozen burgers because when we lived in OH, White Castle always did an uber romantic (haha) Valentine's Special. So since we don't have any nearby, we get the frozen.
As for lobster/filet, what about filet, roasted asparagus and a potato of some kind? Or a lobster mac n cheese on the side (I know they usually have some in the frozen section at GE). What a nice wife you are!
I have no recipe suggestions. I have been in a rut lately and just doing things that are easy and quick. What about bbq ribs in the crockpot with some cheesy potato casserole?
We have reservations at the Sewickley Speakeasy next Friday night for a V-day double date with friends of ours. I am very excited since I've been driving by that place for 5.5 years now always wondering about it. My parents are keeping the kiddos for the night. It will be my first whole night away from Elsey.
ETA: Guess I need to work on getting my siggy updated. I haven't posted on here in awhile...I'm definitely not 54 weeks pregnant (thank God)

a
Clare, don't you know me at all? I don't cook!
DH makes a lobster pasta every year. It's lobster, farfalle pasta, bell peppers (orange & yellow), spinach and some sort of garlic/butter/white wine sauce. I don't think he has a recipe for it, but I'll check with him to see if he has anything else to add. (We tried it with a cream sauce one year, but prefer the butter/garlic.)
We always do the lobster pasta dinner for a nice dinner at home after the kids go to bed. We're usually in Florida this time of year, so we do a dinner out too (just not on actual V-Day).
I miss those days! I LOVE my DH every day of the year, I don't need a Hallmark holiday to tell me to love him. And chocolates and flowers are over rated.
If K really wanted to spoil me on V-day he could buy me the chair I want for the living room
but yea. We love each other all the time. And spend v-day not showing each other our love just because we really just need a break once a year.
With two birthdays in our household this week, Valentine's Day has been overlooked for a long time. DH and I might escape the house for a couple of hours thus weekend while my parents are here, but that's about it.
I would consider making a nice dinner next Thursday, but every time I ask DH for meal suggestions he just gives me a blank stare. I suppose at the very least I won't cook a meatless dish that night. :-p
Well, personally, I like to lavish my husband with attention all of the time but I go over-the-top on V-Day and expect the same in return!
Yeah, not quite. Normally we don't do anything either - I would kill him if he spent the ridiculous money places expect for flowers on that one day. I just figure that since I'm home this year, I'd do something nice for once! Thanks for the tips, and Meghan - you're not fooling anyone!! LOL
My three sons!
You don't make fillets and lobster daily?? Pshaw.
We never go out for V-Day, but I do make a somewhat special dinner. I make filet, and this to go on top: http://www.marthastewart.com/337161/red-wine-ssaucepans
and some saut?ed spinach and polenta for sides. Very easy. I also buy us some nice dark chocolate because we are both chocolate fiends. :-)
Trying again with the link: http://www.marthastewart.com/337161/red-wine-sauce
We got engaged on Feb 13the so we usually celebrate that day rather than the 14th. But since dd we are usually at home. We have sometimes made something but usually we get take out and dessert from some of our fav places and eat after dd goes to bed. This year we are on vacation and still will be next week so that will be special as it is. I'm sure we will be eating out but no idea where.
i don't eat steak and have never made lobster so I'm no help with recipes
My Bio
i also got engaged on V-Day
I think we're going to 9 on 9 or Tamari for dinner on Feb 15th. i do really enjoy getting flowers on V-Day (or any day!) so hopefully that's in the cards as well.
