Mr. Feef has requested this for his hockey meals. I have a recipe from my mom, but I'm not crazy about it, Any of you ladies have one to share?
Re: American Chop Suey
I don't have a recipe either. I just saute up some onions and one clove of garlic (b/c I can't make anything without garlic - most people don't use garlic) and sometimes green peppers (depends on my mood - mostly without). I brown ground beef in that mixture - to flavor it - and then drain the oil out. I throw in a jar of tomato sauce and a can of petite diced tomatoes with the juice - I throw in some Italian Seasoning Blend then too - for taste. Simmer while the elbows are cooking. When the elbows are done, I throw them in the sauce, cook for a couple minutes and serve with grated cheese on top.
We had this Saturday night. It's good comfort food.
Mine couldn't be easier and I love it:
brown the hamburg with chopped onion and green pepper
then throw that in with (cooked) pasta like elbows or small shells
mix in 2 cans of tomato soup
Everyone always thinks the tomato soup sounds so strange, but it's so good!
?
I just experimented with this for Mr. Feef's hockey widow meals this week. ?I used the tomato soup - cause i figured why not.
?Pete is PRETTY excited to eat alone tomorrow.
?
Thanks for all your suggestions - as I used a little bit of everything?
