I am going to write a letter to L at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, and once a year from there. I plan on giving them to him when he graduates high school. I still have over 2 weeks to write his 3 month letter, but this is what I would say if I wrote it today:
Dear L,
Your smile melts my heart. You are beginning to giggle at your dad and me. We love your little personality.
You are a whopping 15 pounds and 25 inches long. The doctor is convinced that you are going to be a basketball player.
You are adjusting well to your braces. You no longer cry when we take them off or put them back on.
We are getting our first family pictures done soon, and I apologize for the Valentine's Day feel to them, but I love them.
You are growing up so quickly already. We love watching you grow!
Love,
Mom

Re: Letters to your child(ren)
I write Audrey a letter each month, sometimes more often (when something big happens, I'm feeling extra emotional, etc.) This is her 2 month letter, that I started writing today:
February 11th, 2013
Audrey,
Today you are 2 months old, baby girl! I can?t believe it!
Last month was very eventful for us. We learned that you have a milk intolerance and acid reflux. Because of this, mommy has cut dairy from her diet and you now take baby Zantac twice daily. These things seem to help ? you are generally much more pleasant and happy now that we?ve got these issues figured out. Your sleep has gotten better because of these fixes, too (though this past week, you?ve been wanting to sleep with me and snuggle. I have to admit, even when I complain about how you won?t sleep in your Rock N Play, I?m cherishing these snuggles, my cuddly girl.)
On January 27th, you gave us your first real ?social? smile. It was amazing! One of the best things I?ve seen in my life. Daddy and I do anything we can to get you to smile; you especially like it when I tickle your cheeks. The next thing we?re waiting for is a giggle (we heard a glimpse of it one night in your sleep ? what a beautiful sound!)
You still refuse a pacifier, but you love to suck on your hands (not your thumb, your whole hand. You thoroughly enjoy ?gumming? your knuckles.) You LOVE to eat! You make the funniest noises while you do so ? cooing and snorting and kicking your legs out of excitement.
You will get your two month shots on Thursday (Valentine?s Day.) Daddy is taking the day off of work and we?re going to spend the together. We will take you to see the doctor together and then we?ll have a family Valentine?s Day.
At your two month doctor appointment, you weighed ____ and measured ____ inches long. It is awesome to watch you grow. Just this past week, I was looking at pictures from your first month and realized you already look so different and so much bigger. It makes me wish I could freeze time. I already miss how little you were. Even so, I am loving watching you grow and seeing your big personality blossom. I can?t wait to see what the future holds for all of us.
All my love, Mommy
