Comfortable heels

Is that an oxymoron?  Do you have a recommendation?

Re: Comfortable heels

  • My advice is to pick a heel height that is comfortable for you. For me, I think it's around 2 inches. I don't think platforms are easy to walk in but some of my friends prefer them. It depends on your arch and what you're used to. You can always add an insert for cushioning or rubbery soles at a shoemaker for extra comfort on a favorite pair. Also, the shape of the toe will add to the comfort. I prefer more of a pointed rather than round but again, it depends on how your foot is built and where you need more space. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I think shoe comfort is such a personal choice.
  • Any heels are going to hurt after wearing them all day. Dr. Scholls makes some cute heels that are a little more comfortable Clarks are comfortable also. Also, don't go for inexpensive poor quality shoes, you are much more likely to find a better shoe if you are willing to pay the difference. Try Dansko for a lift. (not so cute, but you can wear them all day)
  • I find that wedges are more comfortable than stiletto heels. The more contact the shoe has to the ground, the more comfortable (flats = full contact, stilettos = only a tiny point of contact). You could add inserts for more padding, but it's really all about trying them on.
  • I have a couple of pairs of Eurosoft shoes and they are very comfortable.  They are hit or miss on cute styles though so you have to keep an eye out for them but I can wear them for a long amount of time.  I have found the cheapest prices at SteinMart.

I also agree with a PP that said that wedges are better.  I have a pair of Toms wedges that are very comfy as well.
