Hi Ladies we just got a Border Collie/Lab mix a few weeks ago and we took her in yesterday for her boosters and a Lepto vaccine. Well about an hour after we got home she was not herself. She was laying around all day and cried out in pain anytime she moved. She also got sick a few times yesterday and would not eat at all. Today she is back to her normally playful puppy self thank goodness!
Has anyone's dogs had a reaction to the Lepto vaccine and did you not give it to them anymore?

Re: Lepto Vaccine
How old is she? Sometimes they will have that type of reaction as a puppy and will grow out of it. Did she get any other vaccines that day?
Lepto is definitely an optional vaccine but if your dog is at risk (ie around wildlife frequently or drinks out of out of places other than her water bowl- streams, puddles, etc) I tend to recommend it. Lepto is a very nasty disease and can cause acute renal failure and death quite quickly.

She is 10 weeks and she also got her Distemper, Adenovirus and Parvo booster as well that day.
We have a fenced in back yard with no sitting or running water.
Oh my gosh! I am so glad she pulled through! I was freaking Saturday I would have really been freaking out!! Thanks for telling me your experience with it.
She may do fine next time especially if you can get the vaccine at a separate time from the DHPP. If you are really concerned tell your vet when you schedule the appt. You can wait at the clinic to make sure there isn't a reaction as most happen within the first 20 min. Or you could give benadryl before the vaccine to avoid an allergic reaction.
