Hey everyone,
The time has come to start thinking about a new roof over my head. Literally. I've contacted a number of exterior companies and so far All American Exteriors has given the best quote. But my problem is I don't know if I should go with the standard shingles again or if it is time to do something else like clay tile. I really like the look of the clay tiles but it is soo much more expensive. And I haven't really seen or heard many benefits other than longer lasting and more appealing. (long lasting is great, but we'll most likely be out of the house before its time to consider another, no matter what I go with this time) Does anyone have any info or tips on reroofing or what I might be missing with the clay tile benefits? Thanks!
Re: Advice on a new roof
I like the clays but only if it goes with the style of the house, it looks great on a stucco mediternean or spanish architecture. My friend went with clay on a brick home, first of all the installation took a lot longer and more expensive than the traditional shingles, second, I do not like how it looks against a brick house, it's a matter of personal choice, my friend loves it, but honestly it clashes and I think that would have an affect in the sales price when the time comes.
If you want something better, go with higher end shingles, like a 30 year or 40 year shingles, instead of 20 years.
