Another headline to discuss... Oscar Pistorius

So I have to say, I was first shocked to hear that he shot and killed his girlfriend. and then I turned to cynical and thought maybe it was possible it wasn't an accident and mistaken identity. And he was just a huge jerk, and did it on purpose... maybe he too was on performance enhancing (and personality adjusting) drugs. And today his crying in court and it being released he shot through a door makes me feel sorry for him all over again.  I don't want him to be guilty.

  • It's so tragic.  And Amanda, I had the same cynical thoughts (especially when I read an article yesterday that said they had previous domestic disturbance calls in the past...but maybe that was false?  I'm not sure of the source there) but I don't want him to be guilty either.  Can you imagine having to live with that, assuming it was an accident?

  • I've heard though that it's a gated community, so in that case did he really think it was a home invasion?   And also, apparently there have been several domestic violence calls to their home before.  I watch a lot of true crime shows, and they all weep.  Guilty or not.  I mean, wouldn't you check something out first before shooting?
  • I was feeling the same way!  Plus, they had released recent tweets from his girlfriend and they seemed to lighthearted about the two of them doing stuff together.  I also read that she was really involved in domestic abuse causes, and how she had once said that she is grateful to wake up in a safe home.  But then, it is always the husband/boyfriend, so I really can't see it being an accident, unless there is some major evidence pointing to that.
