I like Marco Rubio and Susana Martinez.  I also think it's presumptuous on the part of the prior poster from my area to assume that people like Carson just because he's a minority.  I think it's because of what he said at the prayer breakfast and solely that.  We all know what party the racial and ethnic beancounters belong to.

I think it's crazy that he gives one speech that people like and they want him to be POTUS. I think republicans think if they put up a minority, minorities will vote for them. They keep talking about minority outreach, etc.  Minorities dont need outreach, they would like policies that benefit them and not to be pander too.  They would like for candidates not to suggest that we make conditions sp hard for them that they self deport. They would like for a party not to sterotype them as "wefare queens."  But I think Republicans should continue to do it their way because it has been so successful for them. Had they not gerrymandered the political districts, they would not even have control of the house.

I asked what she knew about him besides the prayer breakfast speech. I have seen him in person at least 6 times and have been in retreat/strategic planning sessions with him two times. Dinner with him, etc. I don't know enough about his political views to say he should run in 2016 and I know a lot about him!  I highly doubt he will run anyway but to hear one speech and say he should run is crazy to me. There are many white doctors with his views. Why should he run and not them?

Oh and we knew so much about Mr. Community Organizer. Get real LOL

He was a state senator for 7 years and a US senator for 4 years. That's 11 years in public service/politics. He was hardly a total unknown with zero experience.

Oh sure, Obama was a Senator with a less than stellar record:

From Jan 2005 to Oct 2008, Obama missed 314 of 1,300 roll call votes, which is 24.2%. This is worse than the median of 2.2% among the lifetime records of senators serving in Oct 2008.

Compare that with say a Chuck Schumer:

From Jan 1999 to Feb 2013, Schumer missed 55 of 4,485 roll call votes, which is 1.2%. This is better than the median of 1.7% among the lifetime records of senators currently serving.

Yes, Obama was a model Senator, very engaged.

Well the majority of Americans didn't care...two times.  So there is that fact as well...

  • I'm rather wonkish, and even I think all this 2016 talk is really early.

I hope the Republicans pick a sane moderate. I'm pretty sure that won't happen.
