In an effort to revive this board (and get people to come back after they post questions; the post-and-runs are killing me!), I'd like to get to know everyone frequenting now.

The majority of the old regulars defected to Proboards last summer when TN messed with the boards and screwed things up, but a lot of people still come here seeking help for their beloved furbabies, and it'd be nice to know who we're all talking to these days!

So, answer the following:

How many/what kinds of pets do you have? (Bonus for PIPs!)

What do you do for a living? (Be as vague or specific as you like)

How many/what kinds of pets do you have? (Bonus for PIPs!) I have 3 pets; 2 cats and 1 dog.

What do you do for a living? (Be as vague or specific as you like) I'm an assistant editor at a physician's membership organization; I work on a self-assessment product that we publish a new edition of every 3 years. I was recently promoted, and will be taking on responsibility for the editing of one section of this product.

Do you rent or own your home? Feel free to share how this affects you as a pet parent. We own our home. It's made being pet parents incredibly easy for us, especially the fenced-in backyard so that I never have to worry about putting Zoey on a leash just to let her out to potty!

What's your favorite book/book series? This is a tough one for me right now. I'm completely in love with Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, but I've also been obsessed with George Martin's Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) series and plowed through the first 5 books in the last 6-ish months. Anne McAffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series has been my longest book series love.

SS: I'm getting into my training to run the Spartan Race (sprint) in July. It's going to be intense, and I've never done anything even remotely like it!

we have a cat named Sam and a Cane Corso named Ben

What do you do for a living? We are in NY, about an hour North of NYC

Do you rent or own your home? We own our home and have a large yard, which is great for Ben. Plus we have the invisible fence so he gets to roam around.

What's your favorite book/book series? i love to read but dont have a favorite series

Do you rent or own your home? Feel free to share how this affects you as a pet parent. Rent an apartment. I'm glad we live on the first floor, so our wrestling dogs don't disturb anyone below us, but I wish we had a backyard.

What's your favorite book/book series? Harry Potter series, or any book by Jen Lancaster.

Your pets are adorable! I have a friend with a Cane Corso.

Just a note: I'm not a fan of invisible fences, and firmly believe that you should keep a very close eye on your dog when he's outside regardless of the invisible fence. I recently read an article about a dog inside his invisible fence who was attacked by a loose dog.

Invisible fences don't keep other dangers to your pet out of your yard, they only keep him in it (and that's only if he doesn't get spooked or spot something to chase, lose his mind, and blast through that zap zone before taking off completely).

I understand that some people have difficult yards to put up traditional fences around (or aren't allowed to because of neighborhood ordinances), but if you ever are able to, I'd really recommend going the solid fence route, and watching Ben like a hawk during his outside time in the meantime.

I am currently searching for a job right now. I just completed my Masters degree, and job hunting is pretty brutal...

Unfortunately we rent. I would love to have more pets, and I have always wanted to foster, but we just don't have the space right now. Our apartment complex also has breed restrictions (and species restrictions - like no birds, reptiles etc.), so we haven't been able to get a dog like we had planned originally (as all the dogs we have liked from shelters are mixed with a breed that is restricted here).

What's your favorite book/book series?

I love books of all kinds! I am really trying to get into some historical nonfiction and biographies right now.

Dragonriders of Pern is such a wonderful series!

Ugh. Breed restrictions! They're such a load of bull! I hope that someday soon you live in a place that allows you to bring a wonderful, deserving dog of ANY breed into your home.

i know the invisible fences can be controversial. We do have the type of yard that is impossible to fence in because it is so big. We live on a very quiet street with few neighbors and all the dogs know each other. Ben is actually rarely alone outside. I grew up with dogs and the invisible fence as well so im very accustomed to it.

How many/what kinds of pets do you have? (Bonus for PIPs!). Three pembroke welsh corgis (no PIP because of my iPad)
What do you do for a living? (Be as vague or specific as you like). I'm an analyst at a credit union. It's boring but t pays the bills .
Do you rent or own your home? Feel free to share how this affects you as a pet parent. We own. We will probably always own because renting with three dogs sounds awful!!
What's your favorite book/book series? Sad. I am not an avid reader... I am lazy enough to wait for the movie.

SS: I've was afraid of dogs and believed the hype about Pit Bulls before I had them and now I'm a huge supporter of the breed and try to help breakdown the stereotypes. Also from lurking on this board for so long, I learned about the dangers of backyard breeders and puppy mills and that's why we rescued from the SPCA for both of our dogs. We rescued our 2nd because the authorites broke up a dog fighting house less than 2 miles from our house and we wanted to rescue so we could help make room for another dog.

The work my group does is very cyclical, so the promotion coincides with the beginning of the next cycle (beginning/prep work for the next edition). I haven't technically started the "new" work yet, but that will come very soon when our kick-off meetings start and we begin receiving copy from our authors. In the meantime, I'm just continuing to do the regular assistant editor duties.

What's your favorite book/book series? Love books, could never pick a fav, but since I don't read series much, it's easy to vote for HP.

SS: my SS is that I miss the old days on this board. It was hopping around here. I learned so much and think that a lot of others did too.

Do you rent or own your home? Feel free to share how this affects you as a pet parent. We purchased our home a year ago. We waited to get a dog until we owned a home with a yard and didn't have breed restrictions from our landlord.

What's your favorite book/book series? I love the Outlander series. It's amazing. My favorite book seems to change on a regular basis. The best book I read recently was The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

Do you rent or own your home? Feel free to share how this affects you as a pet parent. We just recently became home owners. This greatly impacted our decision to get a puppy. We have a small fenced in yard that's big enough the throw a ball in. We still have to walk the dog once a day.

What's your favorite book/book series? Harry Potter. I've read them all a dozen or so times. Love it.

Hello there! My name is Karyn, I normaly just post on the Knot as I'm in the middle of wedding planning. But my FI and I just got our first puppy together (yay!) on Friday and thought I'd introduce us here!

How many/what kinds of pets do you have? Our Boston Terrier, Murphy, is almost 5 months old!

What do you do for a living? I am an art teacher and museum educator and also in grad school part time.

Do you rent or own your home? Feel free to share how this affects you as a pet parent. My FI and I live in an apartment - it's his parents house, they live on the first floor and we have the second. His father does not like dogs (or any animal for that matter), so we were a little nervous about getting a dog. But so far he hasn't said anything to us (and let's hope it stays that way!).

What's your favorite book/book series? I don't get to read for pleasure that often becuase of grad school, but I did enjoy the Harry Potter and Twilight series. Might start the 50 Shades in summer.

We have one big ol' mutt from a shelter, Max. Border collie/black lab probably. Him and his BFF:

I am working at a University while finishing my doc work.

We own, it is nice because we don't mind if the dog tears up the yard playing ball, we got in trouble for his tracks every place we rented with him.

Favorite book right now- Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver or Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Jlion- I just finished the Fault in our Stars yesterday, I was a wreck the whole time I was reading it. Love it though.

I thought I replied to this last night..I probably got distracted by the dog!

How many/what kinds of pets do you have? (Bonus for PIPs!) We have one rescue dog named Brodie. He's a beagle/dachshund and is around 2 years old.

What do you do for a living? (Be as vague or specific as you like) I work in the travel industry as a web producer. And despite that, I can't figure out how to attach a picture! I clicked the insert/edit image button - but it wants a url, and for some reason I can't seem to copy/paste. I'll work on it.

Do you rent or own your home? Feel free to share how this affects you as a pet parent. We own a house. Prior to which we lived in an apartment that did not allow dogs. So we couldn't wait to get a dog after we got our house. We have a decent sized yard where Brodie stays while we're at work.

We just took him with us to my mom's over the weekend. She has an apartment..on the 3rd floor. It was a nice visit, but I was so happy to come home where we can just open the door to let him out if he has to pee instead of getting his leash on him and then taking him outside just to pee.

Do you rent or own your home? Feel free to share how this affects you as a pet parent. We rent which works well for us and Boomer. We'd love to rescue another dog but are waiting for a house with a fenced in yard.
