Sneakers?!

I need new sneakers. Any suggestions?

I only use them for the gym and then when its nice we do nice walks on the trails so I don't need anything crazy. I hate Nike.

And any suggestions on where has good deals!

Thanks Ladies!

Re: Sneakers?!

  • It really depends on your foot shape and gait, but I like Saucony and Asics, which might be worth a try for you because Nike dont fit me as well either. I have very low/fallen arches and a normal width foot and I supernate (more pressure on the outside of my foot) so shoes with support on the outside are much better for me. If you pronate (inside pressure) Ryka is a really good shoe for all basic use. IF you dont know how to tell your gait, look at the soles of your shoes. Wear on the inside is pronating, wear on the outside is supernating...generally. Or you can go to a nice shoe store and have them watch you walk/run etc.

Ive found good prices on my shoes at Kohls oddly enough.

  • I love my Asics and ditto the Kohl's recommendation.

  • I just got a pair of new balance from Sierra trading for $40 as opposed to the $100+ I paid for the same pair 2 years ago.

  • If you are going to get sneakers for any type of activity (be it walking, running, hiking), I strongly suggest that you get properly fitted for a pair at a running store.  Bring your old sneakers. At minimum, you will learn about over pronate/under pronate/neutral nature of your feet, along with your arch height. And, if you go to a really thorough place, they'll look at the bottom of your old shoes to see your footstrike (ball, heel, or whole foot). They will also look at your leg shape to see if your knee caps or ankles on either leg face forward, to the side, or into each other.  (all of this info is valuable!)

You can get a great deal on last season's models at a running store. Just walk in and ask them to show you the older models.  My guy is out in Pottstown, and I'm guessing that's probably a haul for you, but it's common in all running stores. I scored a pair of Brooks Pure Connect for $39 (regularly $100) simply b/c they were the previous year's model.

Oh, and you are right about Nike--they are an apparel company that happens to make shoes.

Hahah, I was going to say the Nike outlet in Franklin Mills before I saw that you hate Nike. There's a reebok outlet there too if you like them. I've had a couple of pairs of puma's that I really liked too, I think I got them at Lady Footlocker.
