Far NE/Bensalem daycare

We just found out our daycare might not have a spot for DS in April when he's starting.  I'm freaking out now.  Any suggestions? Far ne/Bensalem/feasterville/Huntington valley/etc. we can't afford $2k a month or we'd look into a nanny but I'm willing to pay for somewhere safe that they will teach him as he gets older.  Any suggestions or recommendations? I'm dreading putting him in daycare to begin with and now I'm really upset.

Re: Far NE/Bensalem daycare

  • I'm looking online at kindercare Bensalem and Goddard Huntington valley. Any input on them or other suggestions??

Eta- and in case anyone thinks I waited too long, we had daycare lined up but my son was 2 months premature. The doctors strongly urged us to keep him home this winter.  Dh has been a sahd for a few months but we are both out of fmla and we can't afford for either of us to stay home Unfortunately.  I'm a total planner and already having horrible anxiety about him going to DC and now this.  Ugh.

  • Not a regular, but we've been using the Children of America in Southampton.  I like them and have had no issues (DD is now almost 19 months).  She learns a lot there, and is always happy to be going there in the mornings.  We pay $285/week.

That being said, I will be switching her to the daycare at Holy Redeemer hospital this fall, but only because I work there & it's a LOT cheaper ($200/week for employees).  They are open to the public as well as hospital employees. I've heard really good things about them as well, but they have a long waiting list which is why I currently have her in COA.

Im not familiar with your area, but my friend uses COA in Lansdale for her kids and has had a good experience so far. I different friend was on the list for Holy Redeemer and Abington Hospitals--both good and affordable and open to the public so if thats not too far for you it might be a good option.

Also, maybe contact montgomery/Bucks County for a list of liscensed places because a lot of churches have decent quality and price daycares but they are not easy to find.

Sorry you are going through this, I would be freaking out too since Im a planner type. And just be aware that your first few weeks back at work will probably suck and you'll wonder how you can ever do it, but it will get better, and you'll adjust and baby will be happy. FWIW, my mother stayed home with me until kindergarten and I have no recollection of it!

  • Thanks! I am such a planner too... I've actually been back to work since September but we had someone come to our house to watch him and DH is a SAHD now but has to go back to work when his FMLA runs out... so  despite the fact that I put in my application for daycare when I was 10 weeks pregnant I'm scrambling now!! UGH my son has taught me that planning is out the window with him... first he came 2 months early and now this haha he wins.
