Hi

I was posting over on NBC and I figured I'd stop by the old stomping grounds. It's so sad to see it so dead Sad

Re: Hi

  • Hellooooooooo :-)

I still check every day, doing my mod duties :-)

Is the NBC still alive and kicking? So many boards died when the mass exodus happened.

The Twi board is almost gone but we are trying hard to keep it alive, just for the sake of nostalgia, lol

  • NBC is doing pretty good, most of the regs waited it out when TN was working through things and everybody else jumped ship. It's slower than it used to be but nothing terrible.

I wish we could get this board going again, it was so nice having the local board.

  • Sounds good to me, lol. Sorry I had a crazy few days at work and haven't gotten back over.

Might as well ask an opinion question while we're here... When I got married I never even thought twice about asking my mom and my ILs who they wanted to invite. Do you think it's weird NOT to do this? My brother is getting married and I know he's at the point of having picked out invites and gathering addresses to send them out, but it doesn't seem that he ever asked my mom if there's anybody she wants to invite. She's not paying for the wedding and I don't know how big they're planning, but shouldn't they have at least said to her that they can't too many people and "sorry, but..." kinda thing? Am I over thinking this?

I guess when it comes down to it I'm kinda worried for my mom's sake that they'll shut her out of things, which (again) they have every right to do. Should I say anything? I'll see my mom this weekend so I could get a better feel of how bothered she is before I make an issue out of it. Should I just keep my nose out of it?

  • I think it's weird.  Even if they aren't paying, it's polite to ask if there is anyone they really want to invite.  They could preface it by saying we don't have the money to invite everyone or whatever, but your mom should be able to invite at least the most important people to watch her son get married, IMO.

How close are you with your brother? maybe you can just bring it up in a "hey, when I got married there were a few people mom really wanted to be there, so maybe you should just check with her and see if there's anyone she really wants to invite before you send the invitations?"

  • That's what I thought.

My brother and I have a weird relationship, we don't see or talk to each other too often but when we do you'd think we just saw each other last week. I'll have to find a way to mention it to him.

Any good plans for St. Patrick's Day?
