Just curious as to what everyone's hobbies are? I like to try new things and maybe I can get some ideas from you lovely ladies ![]()
My current hobby is Saltwater Aquariums. I love it!! H was a little reluctant at first, but he's gotten really into it over the last couple of months. For those of you how may not be familiar with it, the goal is to basically replicate a coral reef in your home aquarium. There are different types of saltwater aquariums and H and I have gone with a mixed reef aquarium. We are going to keep fish and every type of coral we can grow in our tank. It's really cool to see all of these creatures living under water and you are the one responsible for their health, growth, happiness, and life. I know it sounds crazy, but a lot of the fish and other invertebrates actually have personalities and do some really cool things!
Here's a youtube video for anyone that is interested in seeing one in action:

Re: What are your hobbies?
I have always wanted a salt water aquarium but they seem so expensive.
Lately my hobby has been reading. Since I got my Nook for Christmas, I hae read about 12 books. I also like scrapbooking and card making, which I haven't done lately. I also want to really get into photography but I am kind of a bad self teacher. I learn better when someone shows me how to do things. I have thought about taking a class at the local college for it, but the schedule hasn't worked out very well.
I read a lot, crochet, I need to get back to scrapbooking, but shutterfly, snapfish etc make it so darn easy to just do it online! I also need to get back into running if only the weather will be turn to spring already!
OMG I would love a saltwater aquairuim... maybe when we get rich!
Ok, first off... I haven't been on here as much.
I want you guys to know I check in every now and then!
H always complained that I didnt have a hobby because he is a coin collector and wanted me to have something. I've recently noticed that my hobbies are reading and crafting. I've been making wreaths and selling them and I've realized how much I love it!
I think that would be neat to have a saltwater aquarium.
I like to read, cook, bake, and do cross stitch. I haven't cross stitched in a little while though, but I've been meaning to get back into it. I'm in the middle of making some Christmas ornaments, and I want to make a cross stitch birth announcement for the baby.
Tamara! Welcome back! I'm always glad when I see your activity pop up on my Pinterest.
I should do more in the ways of hobbies. I was really good about running and making that a hobby, but I had to stop for a while for some medical stuff right around the holidays and haven't gotten back in to the swing of things the way I should. I cook a lot, though, so I guess that's the closest I have to a "hobby".
Oh and a newer "hobbie" of mine is cakeballs. I love making them. I made these for superbowl. There were red(ish) peanut butter ones for the 49ers and purple mint ones for the Ravens.
DH and I both do Crossfit. We do that like 4 times a week. That's probably my biggest hobby. DH and I are both certified scuba divers so we do that too. We mainly go out when we are on vacations but we want to go dive at Catalina this spring/summer too...just make a day trip out of it.
I also surf but haven't done it in a long time so not sure if that counts anymore.
I got so busy with the wedding, I never had time to make it to the beach anymore and since then, I haven't gone...mainly because it's been kinda cold for the beach.
We have 2 freshwater aquariums right now but we'd love to have saltwater! We're not sure we want to put the time and the expense into right now...maybe later.
I grew up on a hobby farm that I still help run. I also read a lot, and have discovered that I really enjoy reading on the eliptical. It seriously awesome if you've never done it, but you need a kindle or nook, real books don't work.
Otherwise I don't really have hobbies
I bake/decorate cakes... nto so much since I broke my finger lol
lately my hobby has been setting up the nursery, reading...and over thinking everything
Make a pregnancy ticker
I guess I could also include cake decorating, although I only do it when a special occasion comes up.
I would also really like to learn how to crochet but that's something I would need to have someone actually show me how to do.
Saltwater tanks can be expensive to setup, but there are ways of setting it up on a smaller budget. It's totally worth it!!
I wish we lived closer! I've taught a few friends how, and I'm about to re-teach a CW so she can made her first grandkid a blanket. My cousin taught me one thanksgiving, and I got a beginner's book to refresh my memory.
That is super awesome! I'm jealous, your hobby is way cooler than mine. How do you get into something like that?
It was something I wanted to try since I was a kid. I was going to go to a school in NYC one winter, then my friends planned a vacation to a Club Med and I knew it was there, so I waited. I spent every day on vacation on the trapeze and was head over heels in love! I came home and immediately booked a class at the school in NYC. I flew every Thursday for 3 years with the same 10 people. One of my trapeze friends was a bridesmaid in my wedding.
