Keeping documents safe

Hi all! DH is in the process of applying for boards for the Navy. He says he won't go to OCS for several more months, let alone have a PCOS for a year and a half or so. I already have lots of questions, but know that a lot can't be answered until he gets accepted and gets orders.

I'm trying to declutter and make sure our finances are in order in the meantime. I'm thinking ahead to moving around: what do you keep your important documents in (birth certificates, wills, etc.)? Right now, we have them in a safe deposit box, but I know NFCU doesn't do safe deposit boxes (at least anywhere around us). I'd like to get a fireproof or waterproof briefcase or something, but is this overkill?

Is there anything else I can do, when PCOSing is so far away? Thanks in advance!

Re: Keeping documents safe

  • We have a fire box.  It isn't over kill at all.  I believe every house should have them for important papers.
