Dog urine in microsuede cushion

We had a UTI and our 2 year old dauchsund had an accident where the arm meets the cushion on our 1 piece microsuede couch. We tried baking soda and it didn't help. We have enzyme cleaner. Should we just wet the area and try to get it pulled out? Use our spot bot? Nothing is detachable and our carpet cleaners looked at it and said they wouldn't be able to get it out. Any other ideas? I know the chair is already ruined if we can't get the smell out, but I don't know what to try first. Also it is a black chair.

Re: Dog urine in microsuede cushion

  • I'd probably test the enzyme cleaner on a non-visible area of the chair first. As long as it doesn't bleach out some of the color, I'd say try soaking the peed upon area with the cleaner, giving it a good 10 minutes to sit, and then blotting up whatever you can. It's worth a shot!

I've used NM on our couch arms a couple of times, not for pee specifically, but the cats like to perch up on the one arm, and I think the one cat tends to sometimes come out of the box with a little pee still wet on her backside, so we end up with little spots all over the arms that the NM usually helps clear up.

  • i use stuff from Pet Smart called Nature's Miracle.  It works awesome for any of my dog's messes
  • My old roommate's dog peed on my sofa and our dry cleaner suggested this stuff called "Urine Off." http://www.urineoff.com/ I think it actually comes with a black light flashlight so you can see if anything was left behind. Unfortunately, it was a patterned dark fabric sofa, so I don't know how it would work on microsuede. We did not have any lingering odor issues though. Smile

  • Yes, I'd soak it heavily with the enzymatic cleaner, let it dry, then retreat multiple times until the smell is gone. If it's a bad one, you may have to retreat several times.
