DH doesn't have the option of heating up his lunch at work and he's getting really tired of the same old thing...lunchmeat sandwiches, egg salad, chicken/tuna salad, green salad with chicken. Anyone have any new ideas for me? TIA!
Re: Cold lunch ideas?
I have this really great stainless steel thermos. I use it for soup all the time. It keeps it hot all day.
He could have soup and sandwich.
I make my husband home made lunchables now and then, some crackers, cheese, meat or roll ups in different flavors, cream cheese mixed with ranch/italian/taco seasonings, lunch meat/pepperoni's etc, olives.... however it's not often because i know it's not healthy, but it works in a pinch when i haven't made it to the grocery store and we're at the bare bones.
You could also do a cold pasta salad and the night before use cooked tortellini with mushrooms/cheese etc, or switch the bread on an old sandwich- i love king's hawaiin rolls as a special treat, Naan, pitas to make some of his "old lunch" newer
Or make food that he likes cold, I mean I know I'm weird but I love room temp Lasagna, cold chili cheese burritos (that taco bell does not carry anymore) and cold chicken quesadillas cold pizza
but i understand that a lot I listed is not always the most healthy, most of my lunches that are home made & good for I nuke...
Hummus with vegetables and pita bread.
Cold fried chicken
bean salads (black beans, kidney beans, etc.) I have had some good ones at pot lucks but sorry I don't have a recipe.
When I was in school with no lunch room, mom would pack things in a thermos. She put in heated canned beef stew, roast beef hash, chicken and dumplings, soups. So I like that suggestion in pp. Definitely stainless steel for better insulation and it will not break.
Also there are a lot of varieties of meat salads. I do two very different curried Chicken salads, waldorf chicken salad,...
