New nestie intro

Hey everyone,

This is my first post on the nest and I'm still learning my way around the site. I don't know which board I'll feel most at "home" on, but I figured I'd at least start here. I have many interests and lately have been trying to focus on getting much healthier than I have been this past year. This board seemed appropriate though because I'm moving to Maryland in the next few weeks and actually grew up here too(in Pasadena). I really can't wait to come back to my home state. My husband and I have been married for just under a year and it's been an extremely hectic first year I must say. We're both looking for new jobs and a new apartment in (hopefully) Baltimore or Columbia after we both got laid off and were unable to go to settlement on our first home. Definitely ready for a fresh start. We haven't had any kids yet, but have a daughter in heaven who we lost early during pregnancy 6 months ago. We're growing stronger each day. It definitely helps to have my sweet little dog to brighten every single day. She's seriously the cutest thing ever. I have to figure out how to put a picture of her on here because I show her off every chance I get :P

Anyway, just wanted to intro here and hopefully make some new friends before moving down! I hope to become an active part of the nest and this board. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Thanks! Most of the jobs we're finding seem to be in Baltimore or Columbia so we'll probably live around either of those places. But we'd move anywhere in Maryland where we find good jobs really. Are you from Glen Burnie then? I grew up 10 mins from there :)

  • Actually, I am in Columbia. We used to be in Linthicum/Ferndale but moved a few years ago  :)

  • Oh nice! Well if we do end up in Columbia I may just hit you up here for advice on good places for this or that :)

It's really been slow around here lately. Let's hope it picks up.

Thank you! It does seem slow around here. Actually most of the boards I've checked out seem much slower than theBump, but I guess that's somewhat expected :)

Thanks! I'm actually going to be leaving my mom and siblings behind :( I'm really sad about that, but I'm also very excited to be much closer to the rest of my family. Maryland is definitely home :)

Maryland is my favorite too! Just curious, but what states have you lived in? We're in PA now.

We haven't landed new jobs yet, but since we're really dead-ending up here we decided that even if it takes longer than we would like, we absolutely will be heading to MD. Hopefully sooner rather than later! I think it's going to be great for us :)

I have also lived in Iowa and Georgia. Oh, and also Vermont, but that was from birth two age 2. Midwest was nice and quiet but I really missed being near the coast. I like being here because I am equal distance from DC and Baltimore-about 30 minutes to either-2 hours to the beach-2 hours in the other way and you're in the mountains.

I like Georgia, but I know what you mean about how nice Maryland is. It's great to be able to be so close to everything, city life, country and mountain life, and beach life. I guess it really is like a little America. The only thing I don't miss is the traffic, but I guess it's better than many places and hopefully we'll have as short of a commute as possible!
