Which BC do you use? Pro/Con
What BC are you on and what is the pro's/con's of it? I have had Paragard for the last 5 - 6 yrs and I don't have a whole lot of complaints about it. I got it out in the begining of december as we thought we wanted to try and concive a baby. I have since changed my mind and decided to wait a while. DH has 2 boys they are almost 6 & 8. Right now I'm content with having them around. Since getting my IUD out I have very little sex drive at all. So looking at other options and opinions before I make a phone call to GYN to get a new BC.
Re: Which BC do you use? Pro/Con
the hormones in the IUD are very similar to the ones in many BC pills. Did you use those before the IUD? Maybe it's not actually the IUD...
Going to your GYN is the proper course of action. Do read up some on your options so you don't waste his/her time going over things you could read on wikipedia, but he/she will be able to actually guide you based on your personal history.
Personally I am on Seasonique for period issues. I lose more blood than I should so I am limited to 4 cycles a year. I have no issues with it though I will say that I think it's very possible that I only have a high drive around my ovulation time, which is about the middle of my pack. I've used th Nuvaring and was just not a fan though I know many girls that have it and don't have any issues. I've also been on Beyaz and had horrible headaches, at least once every other day. I did have the Mirena for a few years but I started have horrible cramping and shooting pains and had it removed.
I agree that the best thing to do is talk to your doctor and see what they think may be the best option for you! Good Luck!
Ditto to this. BCP did some funky things to me, and now that I'm off it, I feel 100% better. But we are also okay with getting pregnant, and NFP is something like 80% effective.

Generic Seasonale. Which, yay, is now 0 co-pay for me, as I found out today. So that's a pro. Also, 4 "periods" (withdrawal bleeds--technically you don't menstruate while on hormonal BC) a year. They're lighter and less painful than my natural periods were. In high school I would have to go home early on the days my periods started, my cramps were so bad.
Cons, I don't really have any. I mean, you have to remember to take it at the same time every day, which has never been an issue for me. And supposedly there's a higher chance of breakthrough bleeding, but I've never had any. So it works pretty much flawlessly for me, which I realize may not be the case for every woman.
Same here. I take it mostly for the zero copay, but the 4 cycles/yr part is nice too. I did have quite a bit of breakthrough bleeding in my first cycle or two (which unfortunately means like 6 months), but otherwise I've been happy with it;

"You know you're in love when you don't want to fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." - Dr. SeussI use Mirena. It will be 5 years at the end of the year that I've used it so it will be time to look at what I want to use next then. I've LOVED it! My periods have become a lot lighter but didn't completely go away like they were suppose to. But it's really nice to not have anything to worry birth control for 5 yrs.
We plan on TTC most likely sometime late next year or early 2015 so unless insurance pays for it I would look at other options. I would definitely recommend Mirena to anyone though!
SInce its the same thing you were on I probably don't have much to add to your opinion on it. The first month kinda sucked. Before paragard my cramps were minimal and my periods were eh, 4-5 days, pretty standard. The first month I had what I lovingly refer to as "death cramps" every day between 2-5pm (weird) and spotted the entire month while my uterus tried in vain to get rid of it. the next 2-3 months after that were pretty standard, except that i'd have those death cramps 4-5 days before my period, then i'd start. Period was the same length, maybe a little heavier, nothing crazy.
Around 6 months in it evened out for the most part. I don't have super long or super heavy periods like people say you do with paragard. My cramps are back to normal like they were before I had it, and I don't have any complaints about it at all anymore.
