Either yesterday afternoon or this morning our cat ate plastic easter grass (first time having a cat, didn't know it was a hazard until now). He vomited twice this morning, with several pieces in each lump of vomit. He's eating fine, hasn't pooped yet but he usually saves that for night time. He's acting normal so far.
Do you think he's in the clear at this point? Or does it take longer to affect him? We don't have the money for emergency surgery if that's what he'll need!

Re: cat ate easter grass
Continue to keep a close eye on him for a couple of days. Sometimes, obstructions don't make themselves known until a few days after the incident. If he only ate a little of the Easter grass, he'll likely be fine. If he ate a lot of it, it could clump up and form a blockage.
If that's the case, you'll need to get him to the vet ASAP. Look into Care Credit as a way to pay for emergency/unplanned medical needs so you won't have to face a harder choice if you can't pay out of pocket.

I agree with LuckyAngel; hopefully everything will be fine, but it could potentially be a big deal. Keep a close eye and the best of luck to you!
A good thing to keep in mind going forward, since this is your first kitty, is that you'll want to avoid using easter grass(next year) as well as tinsel during Xmas.
Keep a very close eye on him. Easter grass can be bad, can cause a blockage but it can slice through the intestines when it is trying to pass.
Watch for any signs are lethargy, vomiting, not eating anything abnormal. Any string or yarn even rubber bands and hair bands can be very bad for cats.
We opened a cat up that was not at the vet for 5 yrs so no recent weight. Owner said she was not right, losing weight.
Come to find out during surgery that cat at 13 small hair ties over a period of time.
Keep an eye out and if any signs call the vet right away.
