Let's talk about bedding for a sec

I decided the other day I am going to replace our bedding, because I find it drab and oppressive, plus its like six years old now. I have found a couple of things I like, but what is really annoying is that a lot of them seem to be dry clean only. Umm...I have two cats, I need something washable! Anyway-where is your bedding from?

I have searched the usual suspects....Overstock, BB&B, JC Penney, Target.....are there good places I am forgetting? If you are in love with your bedding, tell me about it. SK where are you? haha

Re: Let's talk about bedding for a sec

  • I'm a fan of bedding from Kohl's.  It's priced decently and you can normally get it on sale plus whatever other specials they are running.  I have two different sets (complete with curtains, decorative pillows, etc) that I alternate and people are generally shocked to find out that I purchased both from Kohl's.

However, we do not use the "pretty" comforter/duvet as covers for sleeping.  DH and I both prefer different levels of warmth, so we each have our own blankets.  The comforter gets folded up nicely and placed off to the side of our bedroom when the bed isn't made.

  • We love The Company Store. I'm always throwing our comforters from there in the washer and dryer and they hold up fine.

Ah, thank you for reminding me. I knew I was forgetting a good one.

I just looked at Kohl's and found a few cute sets that I bookmarked. DH and I are always throwing pillows/blankets around trying to get warmer or cooler. He is going to be so annoyed with me that I want new bedding but some of those sets at Kohls were priced pretty good so maybe he won't care too much. If it were up to him he would still have his plaid walmart comforter from college.

  • LOL!!

Unfortunately, I don't have much to add. BB&B and JCP are where I got my most recent bedding sets. I used to have a heavy comforter for winter and a light quilt for summer, but I love the quilt so much that we just use it year round.

I used to get it dry cleaned because I washed it once and it shrunk ridiculously (despite washing/drying according to instructions!) so I dry cleaned it from then on. I just recently replaced it with the exact same thing because I love it and was pissed. Not sure if I will dry clean the new one or just try to line dry it (like I have a big enough space to line dry bedding...)

I second Home Goods...I got our summer quilt there and I love it. I also got a really comfy and pretty duvet from Ikea.

  • I don't really buy "sets", but my most recent duvet cover is from Pottery Barn. The one before that was from IKEA.

  • I also stumbled across West Elm yesterday. They have some cute duvet covers and not too expensive. In case anyone is wondering.

  • I've bought duvet covers and shams at Macy's and I can usually get a pretty decent price either through their sales or their 20% off coupons.  For sheets and pillow cases, I just color match the duvet color at Target :)
