Embarrassing kitty problem

We have two female kittens, about six months old. They are not siblings, but were abandoned around the same time and we got them from the same shelter, so they have been together since they were tiny. They love each other and get along really well....maybe a little too well! Almost every day at some point, they will curl up together and start sucking on each other nipples. It's rather a disconcerting sight, but we have gotten a bit used to it. I did a bit of looking around online and found out that it's not unusual for kittens to do that, especially when they were separated from their mother while very young. So we've kind of just let them at it and I figured they would eventually outgrow it. Well, we just had them spayed and I thought that would be the end of it, but no luck. I really don't want this to become a habit they continue with for life. Has anyone encountered this before? Anyone have any suggestions for how to break them of this habit? Thanks!

They're still young, I think they will grow out of it.
Why is it embarrassing? Animals nurse in nature, people too for that matter.
