Just now starting the name change process...since I finally decided how I want my name presented. LOL!
Have any of you
mailed your supporting documents along w/ the Social Security form SS-5 in lieu of going to your
local office in person?
There's
an note on the instructions that states "...Any mailed documents will
be returned to you by the SSA." But it makes me a little nervous to
mail my passport and marriage license.

DON'T MAIL in your stuff! I did it, and it a huge mistake!! I mailed it in the middle of November (passport, marriage license, and whatever else i needed). I called them in the beginning of December because I hadn't heard anything back.&nb

I found an 'alternative' local office that I think I will try for the in-person experience. It's a little further away that my recommended office, but looks like it might be run a little smoother, and actually had positive Google r
