Pantyhose...just curious

In a thread on TK about providing fast flats or flip flops for guest, I happened to notice a reply from a poster that one of the reason she didn't like flip flop baskets is that she'd have to 'remove her pantyhose'.

Just curious...

Do ladies still wear pantyhose anymore?!?! I thought they were waaaay out of style.

I know gals wear tights, and I'm plus-size and love my Spanx.

I am asking about nude, tan, or taupe pantyhose.(Remember, Legg's eggs?)

I live in Texas so it's warmer for bare legs. Maybe it's a more popular choice here.

  • Depends on the time of year...I wear them with knee-length dresses in the winter but not in the summer.  Note: I'm located in Ohio so our winters can get quite cold.

  • I'm not a fan. I have been known to go bare-legged to special events even in the middle of a Canadian winter, mostly because all of my dressy shoes are sandals, not pumps.
  • oooo, agreed kipnus! Sandals or strappy shoes and pantyhose. An annoying 'fox paw'. Smile

  • Haha I thought they were completely out of style too until I became an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay and every woman has at least 3 pair!!! I bought a pair to have if I needed a nude color, but when I teach my classes I normally wear a pair o
  • Kate Middleton wears them, so they are making a huge comeback.
  • I'm glad they are coming back, I forego wearing dresses and skirts because I hate the way my legs look. I have pale, although not ghostly white, legs along with varicose veins. I never thought at 31 I would have problems with them but life throws you curve balls sometimes, haha.

  • yes they do! all my bridesmaids did at my wedding since it was 40 degrees in October!
  • I agree with previous posters that it totally depends on what time of year it is. Also, Kate Middleton totally brought them back in style! I remember seeing something on the news almost a year about how pantyhose sales sky rocketed because everyone noticed that she always wears them!

But personally there's no way I would wear pantyhose to a wedding in a warm month -- maybe in a winter/cold month I would...

  • They may be out of style, but I'm required to wear them at work if I wear my skirt...which in a way is a good thing because my legs are extremely pale.
  • I wear them in the fall/winter and sometimes spring, because my legs are sooooo ridiculously pale. I am a teacher and I like to wear a lot of knee length dresses so I think it just looks better (plus I live in CT). But I would never wear them w/open toed shoes or sandals, or even probably to a wedding.
