Solid Hardwood furniture vs. Hardwood with Veneers

First post here. My H and I are building a home and before we move in we are planning on purchasing a bedroom suite. I have been looking at many different sets and it has really come down to whether we want a solid hardwood set for more money or a hardwood set with veneers for a little bit less money. I have always been told solid wood furniture is the best and would last a lifetime. I want something that will last forever. What do you think? Any information on the matter will help! Thanks

I would definitely go solid without veneers. If you plan to keep the set for a long time, the veneers will likely get damaged and could either dry out and crack if you live in a dry climate, or if you live in a place with high humidity, warp and bubble.&n

If you can afford the solid wood, solid wood all the way. However, some styles are hard to find in solid wood or they are a lot more expensive.

We have a mix of both, but most of our furniture has veneer. However, I've painted a few tables with veneer and they turned out nice, so it is possible to make them last. It also depends on how frequently you tire of your furniture.
