On top...

I've heard many women say that their favorite position is being on top. Am I just weird or is this a terribly painful position for others? We tried it last night and we had to stop immediately because it felt awful. Like he was jabbing into my vital organs.

Am I doing something wrong?! I'm sorry for all the graphic details but I have to put this out there- for me doggy style is the absolutely most comfortable position. One more thing...I'm about 5'3" and my husband's you know what is about 8in. Maybe it's the size difference? I really want to try the whole on top deal, but it just isn't comfortable. Anyone else out there feel this way?

Re: On top...

  • Usually on top give deeper penetration, so you may have to change your angle or his. Your cervix is in different positions throughout your cycle, when your cervix is lower and that position can be uncomfortable. Also, you should be controlling the motions more, this isn't typically a deep trusting position (esp if you aren't use to it).

This. Your height and his penis really shouldn't be a problem if you're controlling it.  Go slower, use lube, try different angles.

Have you had a child?  I have had some "stabbing the inner organs" pain randomly when I'm not paying attention since having a kid.  Dang children messing things up...

  • The position that makes you feel the best is the best position. Period. Explore your bodies together. Keep being creative over time. Use toys, hands, mouths, etc. Blah Blah Blah. There is no wrong answer when you're having orgasms!
  • I'm the same way, never been a fan of being on top. You can try being on top while he's seating on the couch, that's more comfortable for me then him laying down.
TTC since March 2013 - BFP 4/13/13 on first cycle, EDD 12/21/13, blighted ovum discovered 6/7/13 @11+6, M/C 6/9/13. Waiting for one cycle after m/c to TTC.

  • My fiance and I have tried pretty much everything. It's true that being on top gives deeper penetration...hence the "stabbing" feeling. I, personally, enjoy this. It's pleasurable for me, but it did take some getting used to as my fiance is about 8 inches and I'd never been on top before our relationship. Different things will feel good. Just do what feels best :)

  • No one else has mentioned so I feel a need to, sex should never hurt and if it does you should mention it to your gyno at your next visit.  There might be something wrong down there.

I also liked the chair suggestion.  I like being on top waaaaayyyy more when my Beau is in a rocking chair.

  • I don't like being on top unless it's reverse cowboy. Feels amazing! Try it :)

I must try the couch idea....it took me years to enjoy the on top position, but I really think that the couch would be so much easier!!  I need to move the couch into our room...asap!  lol!
